Q: Is there a hardwire option for these, or is it plug-in only?

You can use a dimmable transformer and low voltage magnetic switch and hardwire these panels also! Here is the smallest transformer, perfect for 3 panels: B0058WSNUEHere is a compatible wall dimmer for this system: B0006UUI06You will also need interconnect cables to link the panels together. They come in a variety of sizes, from 4" to 12', also here on Amazon!

Q: Could these be mounted on the trim on either side of a mirror to create a nice mirrored vanity in a bathroom? Would the light be too much?

I think the light would be too much. I think they are much better hidden, as they are not really very attractive. They are perfect for under cabinet or behind trim. If you put a small trim around the mirror and mounted them behind that, it may be nice.

Q: Can these be used outdoors?

Probably not, they are not covered, see manufacturer's recommendation.

Q: how many panels can go on one power supply?

20 brights or 10 super brights on the basic 1 amp power supply. Inspired has a 1.5 or a 3 amp supply if you need/want more. I've paralleled warm brights and white super brights for nice spectrum bright kitchen counter "work light".
