SportDOG No Bark Collar SBC-R

Please read this before you don't buy this product because of some of the pictures other customers posted of their dog that got "burned" by this product.First off, if you get this collar please read the instructions very thoroughly because clearly these other people did not. For one, the people who and an issue have long haired dogs. The instructions say to trim the hair around appropriate area where the collar sits to help the collar be more effective. Second, where the burns are located on these dogs in the photos, is not the right placement for the collar to work properly. It needs to be higher up on the neck (see instruction manual). Also those people probably put the collar on WAY to tight to cause that sort of damage. I mean, those burns are no joke. Which brings me to my last point about why you should ignore reviews like that. If those dogs got to the point where they were so badly burned it looks like raw flesh, then obviously they did not stop barking and the collar did not phase them. This training method was CLEARLY not appropriate for these dogs and as a dog owner how do you not see that?! I'm flabbergasted at the fact that the owners of these dogs didn't think at least once that "Gee, I'm using this collar and my dog is still barking." And that should mean that this isn't working for YOUR dog and they should seek other methods to train their misbehaving dog.In conclusion, I just want to say that I have a year and a half old, 150 pound (not done growing), male, unfixed, Doberman Pincher who requires AT LEAST 3-4 hours of exercise daily to even think about sleeping through the night because he is a highly energetic breed. He is very friendly, well behaved and loyal dog but we had a problem where he would bark at anything that made noise outside our house or that walked by when he was outside so we got this collar to try and fix the problem. We used the first setting and he barked TWICE and hasn't made a peep since. I'm telling you, if you use the product correctly and you educate yourself on the use of these collars and the training methods that are associated with it, I promise you will have success. Just don't continue the use if your dog is not responding to it. It's as simple as that.

This quality product works! Do not be shied by the review that tells you this is too strong for your dog. I'll explain. First I tried a $20.00 product which did not work.It was getting to be time for Euthanasia if something did not give. It was that bad of a problem. I worried this may be too much for my dog which has since a pup had a very soft cowering personality. I came home the first day after using this collar and the dog was a bit disturbed and had what you might call the thousand yard stare. He just laid there like his world had ended. I was a little worried but there was quiet. The next day and thereafter the dog is happier than he has been in a very long time. It is a complete transformation, he actually seems pleased with the situation. He has not been barking and knows he is not in trouble. He is happier. We are happier. Neighbors are happier. A barker will test this out and see how much he can get away with. If this was so terrible that would not happen. Do not waste your money on a 4 star $20.00 collar. The one I bought prior to this had four stars. Do not believe it. End the insanity now and get a quality product.UPDATE July 2017. Collar still working. I HAVE OBSERVED THIS TO ADMINISTER RARE SHOCKS FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE NO REASON AT ALL. Best I can tell this is when the battery is at the low end of charge. Keep it charged. I give the dog breaks from the collar and within a few days a reminder is needed. Put the collar on and instant quiet. I'm removing two stars for the random shocks. Was a FIVE.

I leave for work very early, 4:00 AM. One neighbor complained that my boxers would bark after I leave. We have lots of cats and opossums in the neighborhood and I do think the dogs bark if they see them on the fence, but they do not bark all day. One or two barks as they run up to the fence is all. But I want to be a considerate neighbor, so wanted to try these collars..I have two boxers so I needed two collars.I love my dogs and didn't want to hurt them either.These collars have many adjustments for the severity of the shock. I started very low.But after one day they worked. Not one report of the dogs barking while I am gone at work and they seem to be adjusting just fine.After the first day, I put up a video camera and monitored the yard for four days. Not one bark was recorded.I'm very pleased with the product.

I bought this bark collar almost two years ago. For the most part, it was working pretty well. Occasionally, my dog would yelp out of the blue, for no apparent reason. The collar had shocked him without any barking or any other sounds close by, for that matter. However, to the best of my knowledge, this was a rare phenomenon, so I kept the collar and it did seem to work well.A couple of weeks ago, though, all hell broke loose. As my dog was outside and I couldn't hear him immediately, eventually I did. He was being shocked over and over again. When I finally got the collar off of him, his neck was bloody and fur was singed. It took a bit of care and attention, and he is dong fine. As for the collar, it is no more.I contacted ElectoPet (the company which sold me the item), and, of course, there was nothing they could do to help me out in any way, which I didn't expect after two years. My primary aim was to call attention to the issue with the collar, as I have since read other customers' reviews, even after releasing a new version of the product. I haven't been able to get hold of the manufacturer (SportDog) as they never pick up the phone (they just put me on permanent hold, at least thus far). I will keep trying, so we will see.Sure, this product has been effective for quite some time. Question is, how long will it operate safely? And when it hits this threshold, how does one know when the product is rendered ineffective, and by what telltale sign?

I had issues with the first collar i ordered. Would not hold a charge. Called the company and they sent a new charger. Got it, still did not work. Called again and company sent completely new collar and it works great. I want to state that the Customer Service for SportDOG is Excellent...if you have issues, call them. Would recommend.
