Can you use this in manual mode too like the shorter version up to 100lbs?

Yes, you can but not sure up to 100lbs or not. I used it to manually crack my van brake calliper bolts before using the power mode to loosen them.

Does this have variable speed trigger ?

I'm not sure if they have different models but the one referenced is the one that I have and no it does NOT have a variable speed trigger. It is just a single speed, on or off paddle switch

I have extra batteries to an earthquake ratchet, does this item take the same batteries?
