LOVE the clear body of this filter to see if the filter is loaded up or not. However, wish they could have included the mounting bracket and minimally the 1" - 5/16" lag bolts to mount this to a bracket since most hardware stores start carrying the 5/16" lag bolts starting at 1.5" long and not 1" long that is needed here. Also make sure you get an extra gasket (or 2), since the square gasket does NOT like staying in the groove and can be easily damaged needing replacing.

I use this for a pre-filter and for recharging the water softener on my RV. Need the clear one to see when the salt is done for recharges. Very sturdy. Has plastic threads for in/out, but with them being 1", you just screw in a brass fitting and they are very secure. Really love the build quality of Pentair housings. Had normal big blues before and they were extremely durable. I do use a pressure regulator keeping the pressure at 50 psi or below, so I can't speak to whether the clear housing will take higher pressures...but these are pretty hefty and well built. Just don't leave the clear housing out in the sun...they are not UV resistant (per Pentair).

Good product, ez to operate. I find it very important housing is clear so condition of filter is visible. Colored housing make no sense to to me

I always have an extra on hand. The clear needs to be changed every 5 years. I have used these for 15 years. After installing the new housing, the relief valve leaked. I took the old and new relief valve apart. I noticed the washer around the screw that springs again the body on the new housing was not the same size (thickness) as I turned the screw. The old relief valve screw was the same thickness. I replaced the old screw in the new housing and that solved the leaking issue. A small thing that could become a big problem. This company needs better Quality Control!
