It's okay.
The overviews in the book were the most helpful. Otherwise, the author is very verbose at times. This book seems to be written with an eye towards using it as a classroom textbook, instead of a desk reference or a quick understanding type book. The author, Barry Kozak, is a professor at The John Marshall Law School and teaches a Retirement Plans course, in which this book is used. I assume he wrote it specifically for that class. If you want to know a lot of history and detail about retirement plans, and have the time, this book may be helpful. If your looking for the basics, or want more of a desk reference, I would find something else.

If you want an excellent introduction to the field
If you want an excellent introduction to the field, this is the book for you. If you want to be able to look up highly specific answers to particular real-world questions: get a treatise instead.
