Floating shelves, bathroom vanity, mantel, desk are all supported by the Free Hanging Shelf Bracket. This bracket is the perfect concealed support bracket. This bracket is made to mount directly to the 2X4 wood studs inside your wall before the Sheetrock goes up. It is important that the Free Hanging Shelf Bracket be mounted into wood studs to support the weight of the shelf, etc.We recommend spacing 16-20" for maximum protection. How to Determine The Size Bracket You Will Need: When measuring for length remember the horizontal piece is measured tip to tip. Remember to also include the part of the brace that will be inside of the wall [usually about 3 inches].For example if you have a 16 inch wide shelf you would stay 2-4 inches from the outer edge, plus the 3 inches inside the wall. Therefore, 16 inches minus 3"outer plus 3" inside = a 16" shelf bracket. How to Determine the Bracket Angle:The vertical angle placement is determined by which side of the wall stud you are placing the bracket on {you are looking directly at the wall stud}. For example, If you are mounting to the left side of the wall stud you will need a right angled bracket, if you are mounting to the right hand side of the wall stud you will need a left angled bracket. {pictured above are left angled brackets}We now offer universal angle brackets on our Free Hanging Shelf Bracket. This removes the decision of right or left angle. This universal angle is installed on either side of the wall stud.See our installation guide for the Free Hanging Shelf Bracket for more info before you order.Dimensions:Length- [choose in listing] This is the total length of the horizontal piece of the bracket from tip to tip.
