Great internet/DAB+ radio with a decent sound quality
Speedy delivery. Easy to set up and connect to WiFi. Plenty of internet and DAB stations. Mains and battery operated, which makes it portable. Overall, a very good piece of equipment.

Excellent radio with links to worldwide radio stations
Very reasonably priced radio . Nowadays with so many internet stations , and also reception can be difficult for FM and DAB , this is a good item to have . I have to say set up and link to my Hub was so easy with WAP and sound is very good . Very small issue is that when searching and using the point to letters , is a bit fiddly , but its not a huge issue . The radio is a good size for kitchen , easily portable and solid built. Have bought some extra life batteries but only been using a week or so at this time

Technology great. Unit sound not so good.
I live in a poor DAB (and terrestrial TV) reception area, so I’ve recently invested in several internet radios. This is my latest addition. Pros Internal software/sound processing is excellent. More later. Uses Frontier Technologies portal to access internet radio stations. This means you can use the Oktiv mobile app as a remote control for all the functionality. This is an absolute godsend for these budget radios that have no remote. Beats Skytune hands down. Using the mobile app to create presets, and then select them, is easy. Cons The inbuilt speakers manfully try to replicate audio. Sound separation and detail is good, but sound is harsh, and lacks oomph. Couldn’t recommend for continued use, even in a kitchen. The navigation knob is small and clunky. WiFi setup is fiddly, due to the small screen. If you link this with a half decent external speaker, then it truly delivers. This is what I have done with all of my recent purchases. Had the time now to use Bluetooth and internet radio via “primitive” 3.5mm jack to a decent (mono) speaker Samsung AVL3. The sound is very impressive. Way better than the unit’s own speakers.

Awful product
Literally most complicated device for such a simple concept such as a radio. Claims you can save up to 20 presets but this is not true, you can save TWO presets before it then just overwrites the two you’ve saved if you try to save 3 or more…. Too many options, not a simple user interface when you have about 300 different paths you could go down and you get lost and have no idea where you’ve ended up. The instructions are contradictive - one section says hold all 3 buttons down to hold a preset, then another section says only hold 2 buttons down? Unfortunately neither work? So frustrating to use, £70 gone down the drain with this piece of garbage!

Verdict - A mixed blessing
Received as a gift around five months ago, this Silicon Frontier portal radio has dab(+), fm and internet radio choices. There's an option to link to a spotify account and you can beam in other audio media, via the bluetooth option. Though not outwards, to other devices. Plastic cased without a handle, it is still re-assuringly portable, weighing 650g and measuring 235L x 112W x 54D mm. There's a telescopic aerial for dab and fm, a headphone socket and a 5 volt usb input for power/charging. Its supplied with a 1050 mAh 3.7v BL-5C battery (more usually found in a push button mobile phone). So you could purchase others as back up. A single charge running internet radio lasted a good five hours. It has 20 presets per function, plus a clock and alarm setting. The clock 12/24 hr format may be displayed in standby mode if desired and the display can be dimmed. The alarm may be set as a buzzer, or to any of the three built in audio sources. Living on a hill, dab/fm reception is usually good. However dab reception on the Le Mega IR4 is poor. Extending the aerial to its full 53cm and pointing it to the correct location ensures it will locate all dab stations, but after siting the unit in a desired position, it will struggle and choice become limited. Many dab stations are mono broadcast, including Radio 4 extra and Absolute Radio. Even my local commercial station is stereo on fm and mono on dab. Internet on the other hand, is superior. The vast majority of internet stations are stereo and often the broadcast quality is far better. Hence poor dab reception can safely be ignored. Internet is set up in a similar way to a computer. The unit uses a software wizard to guide you through. There is an option for the radio to 'stay connected' while you are listening to another audio source, though this will consume more power. Another useful option is 'audio quality' on internet. The ability to vary this, can help your 'capped monthly internet data allowance', if you have one. Going by experience with other radio portals (the door to any number of potential internet stations), these Silicon Frontier chipped radios have a lot more station choice to offer than some other radio makes. Arguably, you will get the best from a computer, which can connect to any number of portals. But then with an internet, or smart radio as they are now termed, you have no need for a computer and many internet radios have better sound. You can search internet radio stations by location, by type of broadcast, or by keying the name of a station. eg. Always Elvis. I have wasted much time with a smart speaker assistant in the past, requesting particular stations, that cannot easily be pronounced. The radio is a far easier interface. Podcasts may be found and this unit picks up the BBC listen again programmes, now known as BBC Sounds. You might want Christmas radio for example.... it is hidden in the category 'holiday radio'. Many internet stations lack adverts and I seek these out, as there is nothing worse than selecting a seemingly obscure radio station, only to get an advert from your local car sales garage, in an ad break. Sounds very promising, though spoiled as I am in alternative internet radio use, there are some limitations to the Le Mega. 1. No audio equaliser settings. (tone controls in old money). A bit tinny sounding. 2. The main volume/selector control knob is smooth, slippery and small, requiring great patience when making selections from a list. 3. Low impedence headphones will sound rough from interference. 4. There's no auxilliary input/usb stick media player. 5. Poor dab reception. 6. No remote control, which makes keying in things longwinded. Mine jumped off the internet a number of times in three months, usually resetting everything in the process, including forgetting the wifi key... groan. It has since quietened down, but carried out a number of software updates in order to achieve this and it still arbitrarily resets from time to time. for no reason. It will run on a USB power lead, or the removable battery. Oddly, if the radio is switched off before the charging lead is plugged in, it won't start charging until switched on again. It also struggles to play and charge simultaneously. Given the above, I'm not sure how long I can continue with this unit and whether a replacement would be any different. If I retain beyond guarrantee then I will improve the volume knob, either with a larger one, or I will coat with something to make it a firmer grip. On balance, it is a very inexpensive introduction to internet radio, if you can live with its foibles. Alternatively, your money might be better spent on a better quality second hand alternative.

Absolutely terrible device. Not detecting any internet radio station. I’ve tried two different WiFi networks, 2.4G and 5G, reboots and software updates. Nothing fixed the problem.
