Turned My Pickups Horn into the Sound of God’s Wrath
Bought this relay to wire my air horn to my regular horn. Now, every gentle “beep” has been replaced with THE APOCALYPSE IS HERE. Installation? Stupid easy—clear instructions, beefy 12-gauge leads, and built like it could survive a nuclear blast. Waterproof too, so it works perfectly while I’m driving through a storm and scaring the soul out of unsuspecting pedestrians. Yeah, it’s a little bigger than I thought—but that’s fine. It’s the beating heart of my chaos machine. Highly recommend… unless you’re the guy whose coffee they just launched across three lanes of traffic. Great value!

FIRST IMPRESSION OUT OF THE PACKAGE
Not stated for the purpose of impressing anyone but I am an electronics expert over a career of 45 years retired. I can assess the quality of an electronic device in short order. That said, I needed this type of relay to solve a problem pertaining to a hard starting compact tractor which is a common problem for many brands which is caused by a voltage drop at the starter solenoid trigger wire due to the age of the wiring. This happens because over a long time copper wires can and will oxidize internally under the insulation due to the impurity of the copper alloys used and also in many cases by the type of insulation which in some cases can also contribute to that oxidation by chemical reaction. When over time the oxidation reaches a certain level resistance builds in the wires circuits . An input voltage of say 12 volts can drop as much as 2 volts or more when it is sent through the oxidized wire and that voltage is made to travel across in series controls like safety switches ect . before the voltage finally reaches the actual accessories /loads. That is what is happening in my own case with a 36 year old tractor .For me it makes no sense to replace the harness because of just one (1) wire , it is too costly and too labor intensive, whereas this relay will restore that voltage to the starter solenoid by allowing a new wire connected to the battery directly and fused according to the load to be controlled by the same starting switch that presently starts the tractor. Obviously this relay can be used to switch various accessories on and off besides providing a full 12 volt to a starter solenoid that is only getting 11 or less volts because of electrical resistance build up over 36 years. I bought the five pack to have extra relays on hand in case the relay should fail sooner than expected , when that occurs I will have 4 more relays on hand to snap into the socket the sockets of the relay is permanent and needs never be changed unless it is damaged somehow. I inspected this relay and the photo shows the socket to have quality brass female receivers , the insulation of the wires appears to be high quality automotive GTP, or PVC , the copper wire leads are adequately long and the silicon weather proofing gaskets appear to be high quality as does the black thermoplastic used for the housings , there is no reason to suspect that this manufacturer would use an inferior relay to accompany all that quality . Unpressurized water such as rain or moisture or even a gentle shower hose rinse is unlikely able to permeate the socket or the relay seal , when installed vertically by the metal tab, mounted upside down may make it possible but still difficult unless the water being aimed at the base is substantially pressurized. One gent`s comment that I read is about just that , relays in theory can operate in any orientation , however they do last longer when they are orientated vertically , with the relay up wires down . The electromagnet switch hinges inside these relays are such that their life cycles depend on the best orientation as described ...vertically mounted by the metallic tab , if positioned otherwise those hinges will wear out sooner and unevenly causing hang ups that will not make the switch contacts touch . In turn diagnosing the issue will lead to suspect water infiltration versus mechanical failure. I have no vested interest in this product nor am I sponsored by the seller. For now this is a first impression review based upon the perceived quality of the product which seems to me to be high and fairly priced. I will write an assessment of reliability after a year of use or whatever time the relay last before failure when installed in the best orientation .

It will do the job but
The wiring harness definitely gets the job done. However the links of the wires are quite short. For me it was more cost-effective to get a different product geared towards fuel pumps. It came with significantly longer wire leads. So I didn't have to buy otherwire to splice in and make the distance. In the end I had extra wire left over for some other project.

Perfect solution for reverse camera not working.
I installed an aftermarket infotainment console, which also has a reverse camera. Everything was working, but upon putting the vehicle in reverse resulted in a black screen with “Rear camera lost signal!”. For my vehicle the issue was the reverse camera simply had inadequate power supply. The voltage to the camera was not consistent. Therefore, I had to use a relay. I purchased this 4-pin 30 amp 12V relay and made the following connections. 30 (red) - battery positive 85 (black) - ground and camera negative, black wire on power cable 86 (white) - reverse light positive and camera trigger wire on RCA cable 87 (blue) - camera positive, red wire on power cable Overall, this was a straightforward fix at a reasonable cost. Highly recommend if you are having similar issue with your reverse camera.
