How many of these would I need for a 2x3 foot safe?

One will be plenty, unless it's under water.

My gun safe is about 5 feet tall by 3 feet wide how many would I need and how long will they last before I would have to microwave them?

Just one and maybe once every six months microwave if your safe is not in the basement.

Can this be recharged in the oven as opposed to a microwave?

Honestly, we didn't feel it even worked at all. We relied too heavily on it and we felt it literally did nothing. Waste of money and the compartment in our RV remained just as damp as before it went in. Not sure about drying it in an oven because we never had it change color to even try it in the microwave. Personally, we found the damprid cups were the only thing that worked for our situation. Hope it works for you!

On average how long until it needs recharging?

That all depends on the humidity level and the size of the area you are using it in. It's easily rechargeable in the microwave.
