Payo: Paleo Mayo (Two 8-Ounce Jars)

I FINALLY found an alternative to regular mayo that I really like for my Paleo meals that tastes DELICIOUS! I have my non-Paleo friends ordering it because I couldn't stop talking about how good it tastes. The second photo is "Hollaindaise" sauce I made using Payo for my Paleo version of eggs Benedict. Eggs Benedict are my favorite breakfast but due to the English muffin, they are definitely not on the Paleo list so I got creative this morning and came up with my own version! The bottom layer is a sliced baked sweet potato, 2nd layer is Applegate organic uncured beef hot dog slices, 3rd layer is a perfectly poached egg (made in the Stone Wave cooker) and then I made the "hollandaise" sauce with Payo paleo mayo, dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt and pepper and then topped with some chopped spinach. It was delicious!

I loved payo! I have tried several paleo mayonnaises and this one is my favorite. I like that it does not have any emulsifiers in it, like Primal Kitchen's for example which contains xanthan gum. This product does not and the ingredients list can't be beat! It does have a slightly nutty flavor and it is not as thick as the store bought mayo you may be used to but it is delicious and awesome in chicken and egg salads!

Taste is, well, a matter of taste. This product is made from macadamia nut oil, which is a very healthy oil high in monounsaturated fat, and it tastes very much of macadamia nut oil, which is how it should taste. To my palate, this is the best mayo I have ever had, and I have already ordered more. Macadamia nut oil is expensive, if purchased in the grocery store, so this mayo is correspondingly more expensive than other standard grocery store fare, but for the great taste, and health benefits vs standard mayonnaises, it is worth it.

PLEASE, do not stop making and selling on Amazon. Before others give less stars and less than a glowing review - understand that "standard" ingredients are never used in real HEALTHY FOODS. This product is super enjoyable compared to a "SAD"_Standard American Diet_choices - that I will never eat again, so that I can maintain my regained health - unless of course I take the time to make it myself !!!

I loved the ingredient list, so I was very excited to try this. I cook with many different oils (coconut, avocado, apricot, pumpkin seed, olive) so macadamia nut oil seemed tasty. Maybe because I used it to make an aoili for salmon, it tasted odd, like those low calorie mayo that taste like salad dressing. Taste is very individual, so if you like clean eating this might be your new fav.

I know, I know. I'm used to regular mayo made with vegetable oil or soybean oil. But, I could not get over the taste of the macadamia nut oil or the smell, too. yuck! Next time I will get a Paleo Mayo made with Avocado oil. This was probably my own fault. I should have got a mayo made with an oil I am familiar with.

I really wanted to love it but I couldn't because it arrived rancid. I wish they'd keep trying to make it but up the quality control. They need to smell and taste the mac nut oil before making it.

Taste is very nutty, not really like the taste of mayonnaise, but I can't do soybean oil, so this is to what I am limited. It's ok. Extremely expensive in my opinion. I wouldn't buy it again.
