It’s a sponge circular filter that needs washing regularly and above that is a further filter that I have discovered also needs washing. I made a couple of spare sponge filters out of a piece of foam to use when other one is drying. This vacuum cleaner loses suction quite quickly unless you keep on top of cleaning the filters. **Q: Is this effective on carpets?** A: It is ok for a low tufted carpet- I bought the vacuum for its light weight. **Q: Where can I get a replacement for the foam filter? (I've borrowed this from a friend, washed the filters & my dog got hold of the foam bit & chewed it** A: If you go to Russell hobbs store on amazon (link is above hoover description) write filters in their search engine and all their filters will come up for £14.99 **Q: could to please tell me how many tool attachments it should have i have one the thin one for getting into corners should there be one for the sofa** A: You should have one long piece that separates into two parts, button on the side needs to be pushed in. One part is for corners and edges, the other part for upholstery, curtains etc. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Compact, lightweight, and surprisingly powerful suction! *by N***R on 11 October 2026* Highly impressed with this Russell Hobbs Compact XS vacuum!
