Can a knife be faulted for being too sharp?
Context: My wife and I are students, and although we have wanted to own a better set of knives than the cheap one we got a few years ago (sitting there smugly in their deceptively fancy-looking wooden block, butter knives masquerading as real kitchen knives), we don't have the cash to spring for a swanky, high quality set now. When I found these they seemed like a perfect way to upgrade for the time being. I got them a few weeks ago and was immediately impressed. They're surprisingly sturdy for how inexpensive they are. Unsurprisingly, the blades seem very high quality. The plastic handles are comfortable (and make me question why I feel like at some point I need knives with real wooden handles). Overall fantastic value, especially when you consider that at the time I'm writing this they're ~$23 (use camelcamelcamel or some other online resource if you want to find out what the price trend is over time). This morning I was using one of them to cut cantaloupe, and I'm used to using the rind itself as a guide to gently steering the knife. I found this to be slightly challenging since the blade cut through the rind itself just about as easily as the inside. Not bad for a knife that costs less than $6. While I've had to adjust my cantaloupe cutting technique, I feel like I can't complain--I wanted sharp, quality knives for a low price. Too sharp? Too high quality? Too inexpensive? My bag of gold is too heavy?Seriously, I'm impressed. It has me seriously reconsidering whether I ever want or need a fancy knife set or whether the far less expensive plastic handle variety (like these and the victorinox fibrox forschner blade knives) is the best choice. One final note: I almost bought the J.A. Henckels International paring set J.A. Henckels International 3-Piece Paring Knife Set, Multicolored until I found out that INTERNATIONAL is code for inferior quality and aren't at all the same as the Zwilling J.A. Henckels ones. If you're looking at J.A. Henckels knives you are probably hoping for a high quality knife--avoid any of the Henckels knives labeled INTERNATIONAL.

Lightweight, sharp, less room for knuckles
Yellow knife: The "low point" knife. If you hold the knife edge to the cutting board, the handle gets in the way and most of the blade does not touch the surface. In fact, if you wrap your hand around the handle, only the point of the blade touches the cutting board. To cut, you draw with the point and pull toward you onto what you're cutting. The blade is straight, no curves. I read it's good for apples.Green knife: The 4" paring knife. Similar to the yellow knife -- however, the front 20% of the blade can make contact with the cutting board and there is a small curve. I read that this is the most used knife, and it's the paring knife, so that's accurate.Blue knife: Bird's beak knife, good for peeling fruit (although a peeler is safer), decorative work, and cutting small fruit.Red knife: Serrated, for sandwiches and tomatoes. All knives: The blades are German-made, flexible, and extremely sharp. A bit light in your hands. These knives scare me the most as far as the potential for accidental pokes. There is no bolster (meaning no protective curved dull area which separates the handle and the blade). Only the red knife doesn't scare me.Other thoughts:The handles leave virtually no space between your knuckles and the cutting board. The situation is worse for those with larger hands. If you look at other paring knives, you'll see that there is more space for your knuckles, that the blade is angled such that you can make full contact with the cutting board if you want, and that there is a bolster to protect your forefinger. Look elsewhere if what you are looking for is a single, go-to paring knife. If what you're looking for is what I've described for the four knives, then it's a great price for a set of super-sharp knives.

Excelllent quality knife
I've had this same knife for over 30 years and it was time to get a new one. The knife I got from Amazon was exactly the same as the one I've been having for 30 years. I am so glad they still have the same knife. I usually use it to peel fruits and just the right size. Easy to handle.

this is a great set
I had a Zwilling curved knife for 60 years, and when I lost it recently I wanted right away to replace it. So I came upon this set, it had the curved knife I value so much and besides the 3 other ones, so I took a chance and I am so pleased I did. All knives are sharp as expected, but they are easy in the handling and I have used them all. I can highly recommend this set. You get value for the price.

My first paring knife. Now I know why it works best as a fruit knife. I thought I could use any knife for fruits but not true. This cuts through finest finishing you need
