I highly recommend this. It has been over a month since I ordered this device and I am still very pleased with how it is working. I am 62 years young and my hearing is not all that bad except in certain auditory ranges. Still, I was getting tired of the constant: "What?" "Excuse me?" "Pardon me?" and "Huh?" - especially around home and at my office. I was looking at getting a hearing test with the intent of buying aids for thousands of dollars. You can get a lot of these things for the price of one hearing aid. My mother and numerous others I have spoken with were not all that happy with their hearing aid experience. So I took a chance, followed the suggestion of a friend, and got this instead. It is truly wonderful. As some reviewers have said, the draw back is that it amplifies EVERY thing, so I do not use it constantly. Around my home I was disappointed that it amplified the fan overhead and the air vent noise really well -- but when you are trying to hear someone talking that really gets in the way. Likewise, I cannot use it in my car while driving - my hearing is fine for that. You can't believe how noisy a car is! And the kitchen is definitely off limits - every clank and clack of pots and pans or silverware becomes 'gun shot' loud. It drives me nuts. But being able to watch a DVD or listen to music on the stereo without entertaining the neighbors down the street is terrific. And taking this thing hiking is absolutely wonderful - to hear the birds, the wind in the trees, your foot fall in grass or gravel - is truly a joy. Of course, using it in my office to hear my soft-spoken clients has been both a blessing and essential. For the money this is a genuine value. It appears well made, has a good guarantee (though there are conflicts in the literature between one and two years) and seems well worth the investment. I do not understand why everyone seems fixated on the packaging? I guess the nice box shows something of the care of the manufacturer -- it is just marketing to me. This device really delivers good results and is ideal for folks whose hearing is not all that bad.

I have poor hearing and extensive damage to inner parts of my left ear. I saw an ad for this on Amazon a few days after I'd had a mandatory hearing test for my job and was told that hearing aids are likely in my near future. For the price, I thought, eh, why not? This works as advertised. As another reviewer stated, if you're not careful with how you set the volume on this, it will get painfully loud! I am an avid video gamer and the first few times I gamed while wearing this amplifier weren't pleasant. Now that I've got the volume dialed in, it's a shocking but pleasant experience hearing sound not only more clearly, but more balanced now that sounds on my left side aren't so quiet. However, despite following use according to the manual, my left ear feels strained after wearing this for a few hours, so I reserve this amp to times when I voice chat with gaming friends without using headphones, am gaming solo and want to be more immersed in the game, or am simply relaxing or drawing as I listen to music. So this amplifier certainly isn't perfect, but again, for the price I paid it is more than worth it!

So it came this Afternoon. A little background-I went totally deaf at the age of 7. Did not start wearing a hearing aid until I was 12 or 13. I've had some very good ones and some really crappy ones-my latest came from Beltone, not a top-of-the-line model. I am on Disability due to vision problems, a stroke and having had complete Renal failure due to Diabetes since I was 22mos old. I'm 53 now so I've worn many hearing aids over the years. The Beltone was using 1980's technology-I could hear the waves emitted by the Theft Detectors at WalMart and could hardly carry on a conversation-as it aged over the last four years it got progressivly worse-start out out then an hour or so later it sounded like I had water in my ears. Unfortunately I lost it last week while moving som stuff-a beige hearing aid and brown leaves do not stand apart. So I ordered this-first the price was good and my budget, being minimal allowed for it. I've used Hearing Enhancers in the past with mixed luck. I am 60% deaf on my hearing aid side-other side is gone so this has to make up that percentage of loss. I am very pleased at this point-yes, some noises are harsh-doors slammed or items dropped on the floor can be jarring but overall the sound is very good-better than the Beltone [[and yes, I hope Bektones CEO see this]]. Conversations are clear, headphones with the PC are clear as is the TV. Might be too loud for some but, if you have severe hearing loss as I do it might be a life/Hob saver for you. *Update* Three months in-3 Battery changes. Not something I have ever managed with a standard Hearing Aid, average for those is once a week and I run it on "Hi" and wear it 18hrs a day both in the house and working outside. I did have an issue and they resolved it-suddenly it sounded 'plugged up' or muted. Years of experience with Aids I have all the tools and even a vacuum chamber to remove Debris such as Wax or Grit. No joy on my side. They replaced it in less than a week. Very Courteous service and quick response including Emails on the weekend. Is this going to work for everyone? Certainly not-sort of like driving a Stickshift, however, with a little patience and getting used to it should work for many. Good product and great company providing it. Update: So mine lasted a year. I noticed a couple of months ago it was getting a bit more Muted-some of that is the last battery pack I bought was the cheapest WallyWorld had-don'tDoThat. The decent batteries last a month-cheap ones might last a month but will be pretty bad by then. So I had been planning on buying a few of these for safe-keeping but had not had the funds. Friend gave me an Azon gift card and one item I ordered this past Saturday was another Britzgo. The year old one failed this morning but I think I can fixit-need to open it up and really clean it out and check connctions, no big deal but I was stuck without till 30 minutes ago when my new one got here. Talk about Timing. Oh, I work outside in all sorts of weather and noise conditions and it made a year easilly with all that so-nothing but compliments from me.

I got this amplifier because I lost 100% of my hearing on one of my ears and it is hard to hear TV or conversations at normal sound levels having only one good ear. My working ear can hear almost 100% so I just need an ear piece to amplify sounds evenly for all frequencies. Unfortunately, this amplifier amplifies mostly high frequencies and does not reproduce low frequencies well. When this is combined with the fact that it creates a tight seal inside your ear and you cannot hear outside sounds when you put it on, it turns a wide frequency range hearing ear into a high frequency only hearing ear. This is apparent when there is music playing and you can hear the nice deep bass with a naked ear while when you put this amplifier on the music turns into an almost bass-less loud sound. While you would think that its inability to reproduce bass and its capability to amplify mid range and high frequency sounds would be very helpful for hearing speech, it turns out that it amplifies high frequency sounds more than the mid range so you would hear someone speaking until a fork hits a plate and that sound is amplifies to the point that it is piercing your ear. Imaging now that you are at a noisy restaurant with this earpiece on amplifying all the background noises more than the voices that you are trying to hear so you can have a conversation. Even worse, it will amplify sounds like fan noises or road noise to the point that you hear a loud annoying constant hissing when in the car or near a fan. To make my self clear on this, it will amplify my desktop computer's fan noise to a level that I cannot ignore when I have it on. Here are some things I found would be good to know before purchasing: * It has 4 modes of operation and you can select a mode by pressing the M button. It seems that the higher the mode, the lower the frequency it amplifies but when you put it to the highest mode (4), while you may find fan noises bearable, the overall amplification loses a lot and at highest volume it does not amplify much more than the original sound level. Yet, even at level 4 bass quality is unacceptable. * The mode you select will be "forgotten" if you turn it off and you will need to press the M button again when you turn it back on to find the desired mode. * Buttons are difficult to find and press (especially the "M" button) while you have this in your ear and you cannot take it off your ear because pressing the buttons and feeling them "click" does not necessarily mean that the button is working and you may have to press it a little harder after the click to work so, you have to have it in your ear to get the audio confirmation that you pressed the desired button. There is no visual confirmation about anything. * It somehow "kills" the battery even if not in use. Although the battery is advertised to last 500 hours, I used mine for about 3 hours and them put it away in its case for 3 months. Although when I got it back in my hands, the power switch was off. the battery was dead and had to use the second battery that came with it. So if you are going to put this away for awhile, pull out the battery. * Batteries are very easy to replace without the use of tools. * It is fairly comfortable but comfort varies from one person to another. I am used to wearing a Plantronics VOYAGER earpiece many hours a day and I am used to this type of earpiece so I would say that it is comfortable on top of the ear because it is light but uncomfortable inside the ear canal because it has to go somewhat deep to seal it from outside sounds. I would say that you cannot be sure until you try this on for many hours. Finally, I would not recommend it for anyone that does not have a problem hearing high frequencies and this is the only reason I gave it 3 stars assuming that depending on the type of your hearing loss, it may be useful to you. For me, I literally find "hearing relief" when removing it from my ear because I can hear clearer what is worth hearing and not hissing sounds.

I'll start off by saying that I am a person who has had issues with my ears my whole life, but only in the past year has my hearing become an issue I can't brush off anymore. I'm only in my late 20's but to be told that by the time I'm 30 I'll be completely deaf in my right ear is both scary and frustrating because I rarely use headphones and hate loud sounds so I’ve never been one to blast music in my ears or really at all because loud sounds have always bothered me yet here I am losing my hearing in both ears at different rates; right ear worse then my left for seemingly no reason at all .. Crap genetics mostly are at fault but it still sucks knowing I'm going deaf and there isn’t anything that can be done about it.. I got these 1, thinking I was going to get two but only got one and I guess got lucky that the one I did get was for the right ear and 2, hoping these would help while I transition to losing almost all of my hearing in one ear and partially in my other. I don’t have 10k to spend on the hearing aids I need and unfortunately in this economy I can’t even afford the crap insurance that wouldn’t even cover it to begin with so I searched the internet as one does in the hopes of finding hearing aids I could afford. I found some that seemed promising but just didn't have $900 to spend on them.. So I went to amazon and found these. I read the reviews and while mixed I decided to give these “hearing aids” a shot…. I hate them.. I’ll be honest. They do NOTHING but make sounds waaay to laud, so much so I’ve had to turn it all the way down and even yonk it out of my ear because a door being slammed made it scratch like a dying demon in my ear. It does well for picking up every sound but what you need like someone talking to you. I hear the TV in the other room now just fine but still cant hear when someone is right in front of me talking because the TV sound is all the thing picks up. It also has a low static sound that is constant, and no amount of turning it down can turn it off. So for someone like me who already has that static / ringing in my ears without the “hearing aid” it’s more of a distraction and makes hearing even harder.. Can’t return them so oh well.. I’ll just have to get a 3rd job to try and get 10k to be able to hear properly. Let this be a lesson to anyone trying to get hearing aids. If you're able, spend the money on the ones your doctor says you need. Don’t waste your time or money on cheap crap off amazon or google links.

First hearing device and a keeper! For the money, I'm very happy with this device, I wear it in my right ear which is my bad ear and it works wonders. So well in fact that I turned the volume level of my TV down from 24 to level 14. I can also now hear the wife talking which may or may not be a good thing. Oh well, it does have a volume control. When I first put it in my ear, it did whistle a lot. That was solved by changing to the largest ear bud. Seems like you need the proper seal between the ear bud and ear canal. It always seems to squeal when putting it on or removing it. That was an easy fix also. Have the unit turned off when putting it on or removing it. Here is a little trick I learned to test the battery. Just cup your hand and place it over your ear. If you get a squeal, the battery is good. If not. the battery needs replaced. By the way, it does take the 675 air cell battery which can be bought at quite a good price here at Amazon. I don't feel it is too large and feels good while I'm wearing it. I like this device so much that I ordered another one in silver directly from Britzgo's web site only because I wanted to order some extra ear buds as well. I will not be wearing both of them at once, I just wanted a spare! No you can't get extra tubing for this model but the way it's designed you should never have to replace the tubing. Yes, there is a very tiny bit of white noise in the unit but that doesn't bother me at all as you can hardly hear it. You must always keep in mind that you paid pocket change for this unit and not thousands of bucks. Many thanks to all the good folks at Britzgo!

I lost my hearing overnight from a viral infection. I needed something to assist my hearing until I am able to get a pair of higher quality hearing aids. This device came nicely packaged. There was a "Quick Start" card that got things up and running in minutes. Two batteries are even included. They are supposed to last for 500 hours each. We'll see. Conventional hearing aid batteries typically last 75-100 hours. Three different size silicone domes are included. One of these should fit your ear canal and make a good seal. I needed the smallest one. Even it is not particularly comfortable. The silicone used to make these is not particularly soft or pliable. Controls are simple and easy to operate. There are 4 different, pre-programmed sound amplification modes that selectively amplify different frequencies. Just scroll through them until you find one you prefer. If ambient sound conditions change, try again until you find the best one. A little storage case is included. There is an easy to operate on/off switch so you can turn them off when not in use and preserve battery life. These fit over your ear. If you have long hair you can conceal them. If you have short hair, they are visible for the world to see. And no, they are not stylish. Overall, even the smallest silicone dome is not particularly comfortable in my ear canal. Sound amplification is basically non selective. There is no noise cancellation. These are OK as a temporary solution, but life will be much better with higher quality hearing aids. If you are a Military Veteran try the VA. If retired military, many military hospitals now offer the Retiree At Cost Hearing Aid Program (RACHAP). If you live near a Costco, they offer a great, heavily discounted hearing aid selection in many of their stores. These are definitely better than being deaf, but you are definitely getting a low end device. And did I mention the constant, low grade background static? What do you get if you spend $60 on a hearing aid? You get a $60 hearing aid.

I've tried different hearing aids, and I unfortunately had to start using them young. Some cost from $10 (no good, of course) and one costs seven thousand dollars! Still a disappointment. And right now, I am not singing my praises for this particular hearing aid because someone else says: that they "gave one to grandma or grandpa" and they supposedly like it. I bought this FOR MYSELF - and so I can personally state, without taking 2nd hand information or some one else's hearsay for it, that it works superbly! And the best part? - other than being able to hear great again - is that the battery that it takes is one of the most popular batteries on the market - LR44. They cost less than a dollar a piece and have close to a 5 STAR rating of the hundreds that have been sold online! Some other brands take batteries that can cost over $50 each or more, and will last maybe a week, and this from people I know who've had them. You better hope your insurance picks up the tab for that. Rechargeable ones are fine -- if you don't forget to plug them in at night, or if they don't unexpectedly go dead while you're in a meeting or something else important. Then what? It takes maybe 30 seconds to pop in a new, fully charged LR44 this this device, and you are again good for another few weeks of wonderful hearing....and for a 'buck'!! And also, see if your "rechargeable" battery continues to take a full charge after it's six months old - compared to when it was new, I'll bet not. So "maybe" and cautiously I'll say that this particular hearing I've just reviewed won't work as superbly for everyone else as it does for me, who knows? But, only speaking FROM EXPERIENCE....finally, this one has for me, been the best thing since sliced bread!!

I bought for my mother but she got irritated while sitting below the fan as it's mic. is at the top of the device and it was generating lots of noise.

It was needed for my father, a senior citizen, profound hearing loss, age related. A very good product in terms of 1. Cost: as my father keeps losing his hearing aid machines very often. 2. Clarity: the other machines just work as amplifier with lot of buzz when volume is increases. This machine give focus to the hearing content. I have tried on myself before giving to my father.
