Naturevibe Botanicals Chicory Root Granules, 1lb | Roasted Chicory Granules | Caffeine free and Healthy coffee substitute

I've now had three brands of Chicory root. I put the grounds in a normal paper (or if I have them, bamboo) filter and run it through my Ninja electric coffee dripper just like I would normal coffee. I can extract longer or shorter, add more water or less, more grounds or less.The first thing I did is open the bag and take a whiff. It has the very distinct and sweet smell of raisins. While the final result isn't particularly sweet, it's not as strong as some other brands' chicory. The flavor once brewed is full and smooth, almost on the milky side. I take mine with cream and sugar, and it's a very pleasant drink, on par with tea for how inoffensive it is, but still more on the coffee spectrum of sheer body.Definitely recommended for someone who is trying to ease off the caffeine but wants that full-bodied brew in the morning. It doesn't taste like coffee, but, at least if you take cream and sugar, hits a similar spot.

Taught me a lesson not to choose products just because they cost less. It’s not the added twigs ‘n things mixed in the granules, don’t care about that. Doesn’t bother me, BUT the flavor is very peppery, bold and, well, yucky. I was buying another kind on Amazon that is smooth and sublime and costs more but thought I’d try this. So I tried it a few more times. Nope, just can’t like it.Revised:Came back to adjust my review to 4 stars. I’ve finally made friends with this chicory. I’ve adjusted the amount I steep to half the amount. Made a big difference. It cut the bold, peppery flavor and the aftertaste is much less. A little molasses and cream, it’s delicious.

I like the bitter taste, and I know my liver love it even more!

It is probably a unique situation but I did not do enough research prior to ordering the chicory. I have somewhat of a sensitive stomach, and in an attempt to reduce caffeine and acid in my diet my doctor suggested a few coffee alternatives. Per the internets: "Taking chicory by mouth might cause minor GI side effects including gas, bloating, abdominal pain, and belching." It was, in a word, painful. The taste was fine, just not for me

I've tried a few ground chicory root powders/granules and this Naturevibe Botanicals product is my favorite. It smells rich, a bit smoky, with an earthy undertone. I'm a dedicated coffee drinker and would compare the taste of ground chicory to a French or Colombian roast. I drink chicory root for the digestive benefits of inulin. If I wanted to kick the caffeine habit, this is a good substitute.

I've ordered this previously and I'm delighted with it. This order arrived earlier than promised so big smiles again. It makes an excellent breakfrast drink and can be mixed with Dandelion root or roasted garbanzo beans or carob powder for extra flavor and body.

Product is exactly what it says it is. I thought I was ordering chicory root powder, so my mistake. I used coffee bean grinder-no problem! It came quickly and pleased with quality and quantity.
