Bought this as a gift, but I kept this one for myself and am ordering more to give away! It's a real high quality item and comes in a nice box perfect to give as a gift. The design and logo on the knife look very nice and appear elegant/expensive on the dinner table. As for functionality, this knife makes butter pleasant and easy to spread. I recommend getting two of these, one for yourself and one as a gift! It really is a complete butter knife.

Probably not crucial to the continued well-being of you and your family, but a nice extra for your kitchen. Remember to hold it almost flat against the butter and pull it toward you for best results. Note that it stops working well, and gets messy, if the stick of butter is too short to make a decent sweep. The serrated edge cuts nicely, too, if you feel like slicing.

Very cool knife. Both blades are good and sharp, and the handle has a solid feel w/out being too heavy. I'm sure I'll be buying more. It shipped and arrived very quickly w/zero damage. Cool little kitchen or table knife that shipped and arrived quickly w/zero damage. Was exactly as described and feels solid in the hand. Much sharper (straight and serrated edge) than was expected but that's a good thing.

Can you believe i ordered the butter blade almost 2 months ago and i have yet to use it! i don't know that it is something one uses on a daily basis - i bought it to "fancy" up the butter when company comes. :-) I probably would have tried it sooner, but it did not come with an instruction book or pictures to help me figure it out. I think i will love it when i use it; i just wish there was something else in the box besides the blade - like a how-to booklet. I would have given 4-5 stars but for that. When i use it over the holidays, perhaps i change my rating. We shall see ....meanwhile, happy buttering.

Those holes in the side are just flat straight-through holes. They don't do anything. They are not like a cheese grater that is bent out on one side to provide a cutting angle (which would work). These are just normal holes drilled into a butter knife. Does not work like in the pictures at all. When you drag it across butter, it just squishes it like all the other knives in your drawer.Also has a hollow steel handle and is very, very weak metal. I literally bent the knife cutting cold Irish butter.It spreads warm butter just fine, but if the butter is warm, you can use a regular knife.

The knife has a high quality look to it. I used during my dinner party and it got peoples attention! The butter streams help the butter melt faster, also I Like this kitchen gadget, it's a nice addition to my kitchen. I was able to pread the butter right out the fridge without tearing the bread, loved that! And the handle just fits perfectly in your hand, definitely recommending this product.

Good grief - I don't know what everyone else has used this for but if you're looking for a way to spread COLD butter onto SOFT bread that hasn't been heated/toasted? FORGET IT! I suppose it would work ok on items that are warm/hot and can quickly melt the butter "twirls" or whatever you want to call them but I purchased it specifically to spread cold butter onto soft bread, right out of the bag for grilled cheese sandwiches. EPIC FAIL! It ripped and tore the bread just as bad as trying to spread it with a regular knife. Horrible. Again, if you're looking for a way to 'break down' hard butter to spread on toast, waffles, French toast (etc - anything that is warm), it's probably a good tool but I feel the product description and reviews were very misleading for folks like me who are looking for a way to spread cold butter onto soft, not heated items. Back to the drawing board for me...

I didn't really need this, but got it anyway. It's great quality and I have used the butter shredder part a few times. The other blades don't seem all that sharp to me, but then I have some pretty sharp paring knives and a bread slicer that I prefer. All-in-all, a nice little tool to have.
