Best hiking shoes I've ever owned
Keen is hands down, my favorite hiking shoe brand. I've had this pair for a couple of seasons and they have held up incredibly well with heavy use everyday. I work outside a lot in wet conditions, dealing with chicken coops, animal pens, etc. They're very good on gravel surfaces, muddy surfaces and are super comfortable throughout the day. And they're nice looking too. I've owned several other brands like Timberland, Merrell, and Columbia, but I prefer the fit, the art support and the overall traction feel with Keen. My feet always stay dry, they feel well protected from the elements and have never caused me any issues in all the time I've owned them. Excellent brand, excellent value for your dollar and will last you for years!

Great Hiking Shoes For Serious Hikers
This is my second pair of Keen Targhee III hiking shoes. I wore the first pair out and love them so much that I wouldn’t even think of getting a different hiking shoe. I even have the boot version for winter. I walk my dogs every day and hike on various surfaces like dirt, gravel, mud, roots, logs, up hills, moss, grass, rocks, paved surfaces and find that the tread on the Targhee III gives me excellent traction so that I don’t slip. As anyone who has walked over a moss covered rock can attest to, it can be quite dangerous with the wrong shoe. The toe guard is also a necessity so that you don’t whack your big toe on rocks or tree roots that you may not see whilst strolling along. I also like the thick padding around the ankle to reduce the amount of pebbles that get in my shoe. While it doesn’t eliminate them all, it greatly reduces the amount so I don’t have to stop and take my shoe off to remove them. They are made of thick leather that is waterproof so that your feet won’t get wet on dewy mornings or while traipsing through large puddles. And yes you can go through some pretty deep puddles without your feet getting wet. They are durable, my first pair lasted four years and have hundreds of miles on them, and while the tread is still good, the sole has separated from the leather so my foot gets wet. Additionally, I wear a size 6.5 and the 6.5 fits me perfectly. Though I did have to size up to a 7 for the boot version because the thick padding in the ankle pushed my foot forward. And a final observation, these shoes are so awesome, that I have actually seen other hikers on the trails with the exact same shoe!

Crazy comfy
I don't even like taking these shoes off. I feel better with them on. I live in Northwest Wisconsin and we didn't have snow this winter, which is crazy (until a blizzard that's coming our way tomorrow for the next 3 days 😵). I ordered these shoes for a hearty winter-to-spring transition walking shoes. Boots don't have the right walking quality or support, sneakers are too light for the season. These Keens are it. I ordered a size 7 because I'm always a size 7. I feel they are at least 1/2 size too big, but that's only when I wear light socks with them. With my wooly socks, they fit pretty well. But I love the comfort and structure of these shoes so much (even in the ankle area) that I want to be able to wear them in the summer with lighter socks, but I think I'd have to order a 6-1/2 for that. The traction on these Keens is phenomenal. I love the reflective material because I walk my pups in the evening. I wish I would have had these when I visited Europe a few years back. We walked Soo much that my toes/feet bled. The front toe box area of these are Soo roomy that your toes don't crowd each other. They are the best footwear I've ever worn. 🙆🏼♀️❤️👞

Color not what expected but comfortable and nice looking
I really am debating about whether to return these low cut hikers or to keep them. I need a good waterproof shoe for winter mud/slush and regardless of the color, these fit that need. But, the color of the hikers I received is quite different from what is shown both in the product photos and photos other customers posted. I got the Weiss/Boysenberry low cut hiker. It is shown as a warm brown color with similar shades of brown for the design elements. What I got is a shoe that is very dark in comparison, like a well worn oil coat and the design elements are closer to taupe or gray than brown. The Boysenberry is more purple than pinkish but it's still a pretty accent color. I get that colors can appear different on different monitors/devices but I have a very good, large monitor that displays color pretty darned accurately (I do photo editing so I need that) and my husband and I order stuff online quite a bit, rarely do I find such a huge difference in the color of something we receive compared to what is shown online. Almost never. So I'm not sure what's up with this shoe but it's disappointing, it's not what I was expecting. Yes, it's a nice shoe, nice-looking, but the shoe shown was warm and appealing whereas what I got is more like a man's shoe as far as the dark leather. A couple other people posted pics of their shoes and those look just like the Keen product photos, so obviously my expectations were not misplaced. Maybe that's why this particular color was marked down for Black Friday - the color is off. If I'd known though, I would not have bought it. I'll probably keep it because it was on sale for a good price and it will fill the need for a waterproof hiker, but after looking more carefully at reviews where the sides of the shoes crack and tear, I'm wondering if it will hold up in wet conditions. Generally speaking, this shoe is a little wide cut which is not a bad thing if you wear thicker socks. I don't usually, but I have some winter socks that are thicker. They are not so wide that I can't wear them even with my usual socks and I can try to lace them a little tighter. If you'll be hiking in them though, you may want to wear a thicker hiking sock so your foot doesn't move around too much. I'll try to remember to add a photo to this review later. Can't take the time right now.

I only hope Keen continues to produce this FAB hiking shoe!!!
Last year I purchased a pair of these Keens, made in Cambodia, and right out of the box, they were absolute comfort, ready for hiking. This year I purchased a pair, made in Thailand, and after wearing them around the house for a week, my toes were burning. Toe box was smaller than last pair, same size, same model. The top of opening was stiff, carving into inset. Luck of the draw. I will keep trying, because I do love the design and durability, lightweight but good support for hiking rough trails. They are also ideal for climbing steep concrete sidewalks in the city. Update September 2024. KEEN TARGHEE III hiking shoes are my main footwear, not only hiking, but in the city. Walking on concrete is made easier with Keen hiking shoes. First pair ordered again cut into left foot. Returned to Amazon Whole Foods and received another pair delivered to my door a few days later! Magnificent customer service. Second pair was perfect, and am wearing them every day with absolute foot support and comfort. This is my 4th pair and LOVE them. Hope Keen continues this product line. .

Love keen but....
I love keens and ill likely keep buying them i just wished they lasted longer than 2 or 3 months. I hike, nothing crazy, about 3 miles a day and wear crocs the rest of my day. They're comfortable and waterproof until they start to wear out after about 2 months.

Comfortable and Well Made
Out of the box these shoes look well made. Purchased for a trip to Scotland and Ireland, where we plan to hike and walk in wet conditions, so the waterproof feature was important. They are a little heavy - not a summer hiking shoe imo, but sturdy with a great tread. They are also little boxy looking, but not a distraction. I normally wear a 7.5 medium width and and the 7.5 fits well - They are a little wider than expected, but a tight sinch made them fit fine. Very comfortable right out of the box. Happy with purchase. If there are problems after our trip, I will update this review.

Keen needs to up their quality control
I absolutely hate leaving this review as I have worn and loved Keen shoes in all their varieties for about 20 years now. I purchased my first Targhee III in 2023 and loved them. I've worn them as my primary shoe for nearly three years and except for the fabric at the back of the heel falling apart recently, they've been great. They were a little loose on arrival, but thick socks that I prefer anyway solved that. So I decided to just order two new pair in different colors since they are the older model and who knows how much longer they will exist and I already knew I'm not a fan of the Targhee 4 (somehow much heavier than this one). Unfortunately, my first pair arrived (size 7, same size I have worn in every Keen since the beginning) and was so tight even with the laces loosened entirely that it felt like a thick rubber band was wrapped around the middle of my foot. I wore them around the house for a few days hoping it would get better, but no dice. Then the second pair arrived. This pair was so loose that even with the laces tighted as much as I could, my foot was still sliding around in the shoe. This is the same style of shoe and same size. The only difference is in the color. Add in the fact that it felt like there was a metal bar running just inside the outer part of my foot and it was a very disappointing experience. Both pairs it felt like there was no cushioning at all. It honestly felt like my heels were slamming down on bare rock. Arch support was average, which is what I wanted, but the arch doesn't hit right on my feet- it was too far back. I am not sure what changed with Keen in the last few years, but it makes me very wary of trying them again in the future, definitely not without the ability to try them on in person and spend a decent amount of time walking in them. When looking at the shoes side by side, the shoe that felt too big has a noticeably different sized tongue with little to no padding on the sides. It may just be that Keen's are no longer the outdoor shoe for me, which is disappointing.

Heavy and bulky
I took my size but it's still way too big and loose, even after wearing thick socks. If you want it snug, better get one size down. I had to returned it coz it's too heavy and bulky to walk in. Still prefer to wear trail running shoes for hiking than an actual hiking shoes.

Keen hiking shoes
Bought this colour as it was on offer. Shoes looked like it's been in the warehouse for a while or maybe it was a display pair, has visible scratches on both shoes. Can understand that shoes on sale might have some minor defect but the condition of this pair somehow spoils the keen brand name, and especially when I was not informed of the condition of the shoe before buying. Since it was a hiking shoe, I comforted myself that the scratches will not matter after a first wear anyway.

Amazing shoes, I feel like I have waited my whole life for them.
So, let me paint you a picture of shoes so ridiculous, that no mortal shoe has been found that make this woman sigh in comfort. I have a high instep, massively wide feet and for reasons known only to the mystics, my little toes turn out. I'm also a size 7. As you can imagine it's almost impossible for me to even pick out a pair of trainers. I have looked at Keen's shoes over the years and always thought them to look narrow and therefore be for the gifted of slim, beautiful feet. So, I decided to give these a chance, purely based on reviews -' I can send them back" was my thought. Awaiting torturous pain, I put these shoes straight on, then went for a 7 mile rough terrain walk. When I took them off later, I did not limp out of them. These shoes are beyond the limits of perfection. They are sturdy and fix my feet in place, they are fully waterproof and the laces do not budge. I genuinely don't think I have ever had a pair of shoes that fit this well in my life and I have spent fortunes. I am now looking up to see what other shoes they do, because I'm going fully Keen for everything. Boots for winter, sandals, heck, if they do a trainer, I'm having them!! If it's at all a downside, they are VERY wide fit, so unless you have potatoes for feet as I do, you will have to wear thick socks.
