The Complete Yes Minister & Yes, Prime Minister [DVD]

First make sure you give it 3 episodes. Once you get a handle on what it’s about you will love it. It speaks about government waste and ulterior motives. But it is so comical the way they present it. It’s probably true everywhere.

This is such a magnificent series. I’ve watched the whole thing many times but I wanted the DVDs so I’d always have it available. It’s a region 2 disk so it won’t play on standard DVD players in the US but the warnings about that couldn’t be clearer - both on the web-site and on the packaging. First class.

This one of the cleverest and funniest sitcoms ever. Both Paul Eddington and especially Nigel Hawthorne are actors of extraordinary talent. Great pity that both of them died some years later while still actively engaged in their caeers, Eddington not yet 70 and Hawthorne just past 70. The episode (4) of Yes Prime Minister where the arrogant Appleby/Hawthorne gets reigned in and put down has to be seen to be believed. Absolute top marks too, of course, for the writers Anthony Jay and Jonathan Lynn for providing such a wondeful vehicle for the actors. Wonderful supporting cast too.

A superb commentary on British civil service. Both the civil service end of it and the elected official end of it. Superb writing and acting. I will never forget James hacker and Sir Humphrey Appleby so long as I live. Great actors playing in indelible parts

This is a great series. The quality and picture is pretty good, but the sound is very low. I need to turn the volume on 100% to hear it. Not sure how this happened. Some people mentioned that it doesn't include the Christmas special (the episode between Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister). But the one I got included it. You just need to find it on one of the discs in the menu. So maybe they also have it but didn't see it??

If you want to think, laugh out loud, and get angry all at the same time this is the series for you. The situations are as fresh and as real as this morning's news story; the politics are both universal and timely. The characters are like people you know or know of. And the lies they tell are ones you've heard before and will hear over and over again. You will laugh, laugh, and laugh some more no matter how many times you watch it.

Watched these two series online when I lived in the US awhile ago. Bought the series to share a good laugh with my husband and we have been enjoying it. ALL issues are pretty much still in discussion/debate publicly in democratic countries.

Very interesting from GB politic's ways of beeing, doing, deciding, and so on. Extremely funny and sarcastic. The script writers have atually been employed afterwards as speech writers for real politicians. It reminds you of how small we are, and how unsignificant, but also clever sometimes.

Time hasn't affected this superb series. As good as the year it was made.

Its a must for all who ever wanted to know how governemnt ticks. And the 3 main Actors are GREAT, the rest also of course. On the whole very entertaining . We watch them especially now during corona over and over again, and still laugh every time. The Christmas Special is nothing to do with Christmas it`s just that is is twice as long and all about the British Sausage! :) For german speaking it is hard to understand fully, because the gags are not easy to grasp, and translate. My german husband constantly is a pain in the "A---, by interupting with "what did he say?"
