What do these tablets do?

The fasting salts are necessary electrolytes and are used usually for any extended fasting for more than 3 days.  Before that, your body will likely still have stores left from eating before the fast started.  After that it's necessary to supplement, particularly with salt (sodium), magnesium and potassium.  Your body needs these to process all bodily functions while in the absence of them in food.  Potassium is particularly necessary for healthy heart function.  If doing an extended fast, you may experience some headaches, leg cramps and general fatigue around day 2 or 3.  The salts taken with plenty of water alleviate the symptoms.  Drinking plenty of water to keep hydrated during fasting is also necessary.  After trying the capsules, I went back to the actual powdered salts.  To begin with, I take one or two scoops per day with water, at either end of the day.  In fizzy water, it's a bit like Alka-Seltzer.  Further into a fast, I usually take the full recommended daily dose of 4 scoops spread throughout the day.  Keeps you feeling level and no headaches which is just lack of water during the fast as food contains a lot more water than people think.  Electrolytes are important when fasting as the body needs them.  I always use them if doing a pure water fast especially a long one but if for example I do a 5 day Mon to Fri fast with fasting fluids like black coffee, herbal tea and water with a slice of lemon, I may not need it.  In Feb this year I did a 21 day pure water only fast and used them after day 3.  Kept me feeling perfectly fine.  After a fast longer than 14 days, its advisable to add phosphorus once breaking the fast to avoid refeeding syndrome so at the end of my long one, I switched to the refeeding salts also by Nutri Align once I started eating again.  Whichever electrolytes you choose, they are important if fasting for more than 3 days I feel.  Some people just use a pinch of Himalayan sea salt with their water, but I have done a lot of research and magnesium and potassium are important as well as sodium.  I find the Nutri Align work well for me and I would recommend them but the actual salts are better I think as you have to take 6 capsules to be equivalent of one scoop of salts.  Plus the salts are pure with nothing added.  Hope this helps.

Why isn't it possible to provide the same amount of supplements the powder has in a form of capsules?

I've tried the capsules.  You have to take 6 for one serving ie one scoop of powder.  Plus they other ingredients to make it possible to have them in capsule form.  I went back to powder and found they'd made it easier to dissolve in water.  Will stick with powder.
