Counterfeits! Beware! Amazon DID make it right, however.
Counterfeits! Beware! Amazon DID make it right, however.Real Troy Sights have the lettering laser-engraved on the front, centered and precise (not painted). They also have logo laser-engraved on the botton (thick side) of the rail mount. Real Troy's DO NOT have ball-bearings for the flip-up mechanics but rather a non-marring bushing in them. There is a also an arrow indicating direction of rotation and the corresponding "R" machined into the left, top above the windage dial. NOTE: The front sight I purchased was also a counterfeit. The fakes are very cheap feeling and looking, cast vs machined, aperture loose with no positive engagement, and in my case, the removable rail-mount bracket was actually plastic. Amazon fully refunded my purchase so this is more of a heads-up than a negative review.

true battle sights
I own both Troy and Magpull. I prefer the Troy sight picture better as it provides better target acquisition. Especially in low light. These are true battle sights.

Good enough if you don't need rear elevation adjustment
Reviewer: 61y/o white male, advanced end-user. Installs with a slotted screwdriver. Windage adjustment is by a coin or possibly a pointed bullet. I tried a ballpoint pen, but it wasn't strong enough. Height to center of peephole above rail is about 36-37mm by measuring ruler. Flip up is manual, no spring, and not especially smooth. Seems to move around a little; might be normal Otherwise it folds down fairly flat. I was forced to install a 1/2in. riser under this sight and fortunately my integral front site is fully adjustable. Because of failing eyesight I needed to install this about halfway down the rail, in front of my scope, which is offset 45 degrees. I have bench sighted it but not field tested yet. If anything changes I will edit this post.

seen a bunch of positive reviews about Troy Iron Battle ...
seen a bunch of positive reviews about Troy Iron Battle Sights, I think I got a lemon. The Left/ Right windage screw is impossible to screw in or out and their tool doesn't fit it, also the grove to use a coin is so shallow that nothing will fit in it, even a flat screw driver. I've tried lubing it and working back and forth and its still impossible. your supposed to be able to put the tip of an .223 bullet into the hole to release the wheel from the detent ball. Not with this Sight...Its being returned

Great sights for ARs!
Troy makes great products, and these are no exception. I have these on two of my ARs and would highly recommend them. Great build quality, very lightweight and easy to use and install. I have both the M4 style and HK style front sights and I love both. They are more expensive than others but to me they are worth it for a nice AR. I wouldn't put it on a .22 rifle just due to price, but for ARs these are a great option. For anyone wondering if these will work with Eotech magnifier set ups, I have this mounted on a Colt 6920 with an Eotech EXPS2-0 and a G33 magnifier and everything fits perfectly. There's no extra rail space, it's literally a perfect, comfortable fit. The G33 magnifier is high enough to sit above the Troy sight when it's folded down. In order to bring up the Troy sight, you'll have to flip the G33 to the side. Great setup!

One of the few products you can buy sight unseen
I write this review in hopes of saving you time and money and dissapointment because, just like when you buy a bunch of sub fifty dollar weapon lights but they all break and you finally spring for a surefire x300, This rear folding troy sight is kind of in the exact same class, as the matter of fact I could have purchased the whole entire set including both front and rear folding sights from Magpul for LESS THAN THE PRICE OF JUST THIS REAR OR THE FRONT SIGHT ALONE, and with outstanding customer reviews and product reputation, actually I am probably one of the biggest Magpul fans, all furniture on my Sig 516 is Magpul, but SIGHTS?, ON WHAT PLANET WOULD I EVER WANT PLASTIC SIGHTS, I mean these Troy sights cant weight more than a few grams than the Magpul sights, BUT THESE TROY SIGHTS ARE PRECISION MANUFACTURED FROM AIRCRAFT GRADE ALUMINUM or what ever type it is, and they are SOLID AS A ROCK and always will be, EVEN IF THEY ARE IN A FIRE OR YOUR STUPID DRUNK FRIEND PUTS A LIGHTER ON YOUR SIGHT, THESE WILL NOT MELT EVER, OR IF YOU LEAVE THEM IN THE SUN THESE WILL NOT MELT OR DEFORM, dont get me wrong, I LOVE MAGPUL, but I cant logically justify ever having PLASTIC SIGHTS, PlASTIC is just to malleable for me to trust returning to a ZERO with constant usage and flipping up and down and getting banged, I just cant trust plastic for something as crucial as SIGHTS. So I did try other cheaper brands, and EVEN THE CRAPPY LOUSY BUIS THAT CAME STOCK ON MY SIG 516 TOTALLY SUCK and are not mil spec, which you find out when you go to try and upgrade the parts to TRITIUM, they wont necessarily fit, same problem with other brands, but guess what, MY NEW TROY SIGHTS HAVE AN OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT MILITARY CAGE CODE 3EZ11. These things are just like the SUREFIRE X300, ROCK SOLID BULLET PROOF GUARANTEED FOR LIFE AND FOR GOOD REASON, Diamond head is good too i hear.

Good to go.
I have been using/abusing these sights for 10 years now. The elephant in the room is that they aren't cheap. But what they are is a well made sight that can take a beating and still get the job done. Cons: No elevation adjustment. Won't lay flat with small aperture selected. Pros: Built like a brick turd hearse. Windage adjustment stays where you put it. Firmly attaches to pic rails. Good height to co-witness with most optics. Pretty unobtrusive when layed down. There are new buis on the market that are definitely strong competition, but these have yet to fail when needed.

everything advertised about this sight is spot on except for one key point.
You definitely cannot adjust the front sight with a 5.56 bullet tip. You need a thin Philips screwdriver or the proper tool. Even the proper tool ends up being a pain to use. Not a big deal for fine adjustments but when you first get the sights there is a good change they are out by over 1 foot at 25 yards which is to be expected. You're going to be turning the sight quite a bit which is a pain without a proper tool.
