The red arm pieces seem to break frequently based on reviews. are other people also experiencing this? is learning resources doing anything about it

Our red pieces did not break, we’ve had it for a couple years now. The green long pieces did, but it has still been a favorite toy of my sons. I would still purchase it all over again.

Is it made of pvc? or another kind of plastic?

Plastic pieces -- Pretty sure PVC is a much more thick/inflexible material. Two year-old loved learning how to snap pieces together - Product Description: chunky plastic pieces are ready to help kids design, build, and tinker with their own robo squad during open-ended play sessions.
