Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum' | Japanese Maple Deciduous Potted Trees for Small Gardens | Premium Bushy Plant Shrub Tree in Pot (20-40cm (Incl. Pot))

Purchased in October, 2022. Delivery was one day early, product arrived undamaged. I expected little to no foliage, given the deciduous nature of the tree. Repotted in the following days with ericaceous compost (japanese maples do best in acidic soil). Kept it outside during the winter and it did just fine. In April, when the buds started to open, I fertilized it with Vitax Acer Feed (organic) - best time to fertilize is at the start of the growing season. The young leaves are very tender and the tree needs to be in a sheltered position. If it gets cold (<5 C°), bring the tree inside, as the leaves might get damaged otherwise. The deep red colour of the foliage is only achieved if the tree is in a sunny position (leaves remain green otherwise). Water by a small amount everytime the top soil layer gets dry (this will prevent leaves with dried tips). With adequate care, the tree will reward you with its beauty!

I like the delicasly of this plant.It is sturdier than it appears to be.It had beautiful colours.

The plant featured in the advert looked a thousand times better than the poor specimen I received . It will take a great deal of work to help it grow into anything like that advertised; which was an exaggeration of the truth!

I love that I finally have an Acer for my garden tho I was a bit disappointed that it was so small. My fault entirely tho as I didn’t measure the sizes available. The great thing is that I potted it straight away and it is already growing!!! Hopefully I’m green-fingered enough to be successful with its growth. Thank for the quickness of the delivery 😁

It was so small with only a couple of leaf buds when it arrived. I put it into a raised bed and watered it and the leaves started to open but then it died, but from the root up as the trunk withered. I had thought it might have been because of the cold weather but surely it's a tree that grows in a cold climate. So very disappointed, especially considering the price which I thought was too much for such a tiny item.

Good quality plant. Strong and healthy. Lovely colouring.

These acers were much too small to really establish and grow. One died and the other is struggling, not holding out much hope. Will not buy these at the size sold on this occasion again.
