Excellent product; fantastic company.
I have never written a product review but my experience with this product is worth telling - and hopefully helpful to those that view it...I ordered the Scaredy Cut clipper set in December 2011, received the item in just a few days, and set out to use the largest comb (#6) with clippers on Jake, my 8 month old 60 lb labradoodle. While trying to change the combs out (it came with the smallest comb installed), the comb plate broke off the scissors and the plastic clip broke on the comb - wow I thought - complete junk!...After reading the few 'not so good' reviews here at Amazon I noticed that Matthew Michel of the Scaredy Cut company had replied to all with genuine concern and offers of assistance. I contacted the company by email immediately and received a response from Matthew within 3 hours. Here's what I was told - the plate is attached to the scissors with two spot welds that are extremely strong when in the correct place. Occasionally the spot welds are misplaced and the contact is weakened - which happened in my case. In addition the combs can be stiff at first use but once broken-in should work fine. Matthew suggested running them under warm water and pre-flexing so the combs are more pliable when attaching to the plate. Finally he offered to ship out a replacement set immediately with combs that he would pre-flex personally.I received the replacement kit in a few days with all combs pre-flexed and ready to go. Placed the #6 comb on the clippers and set to work. It took me about 2 hours total to do the whole pup - worked in 20 minute intervals with breaks between - I'm guessing a bit over an hour of actual cutting - enough to get a pretty good blister. Then did some trimming around the neck and face with smaller combs. I cut an incredible amount of hair - even clogged the vacuum cleaner! This was his first cut so I expect that maintaining it will be a bit easier and not so time consuming.Considering I have no previous experience with pet grooming, Scaredy Cut worked EXTREMELY well. Nothing describes the results better than a picture so I posted `before' and `after' shots with the product image at the top of the page. I didn't have the greatest `before' image, but I think you can tell Jake had an abundance of fur.The product worked perfect for me. Jake is much happier (and cooler!) without all the hair, and looks better too! The response and genuine concern from the company is exceptional. I highly recommend it for anyone who can't - or doesn't want to - use electric clippers, or shell out the money for professional grooming.

Incredible Customer Service!
I have been using scaredy cut silent pet grooming scissors for a couple of years. I swear by them and the results are happy pups and happy mom! They love their grooming time. Over time, the scissors did not cut anymore without a lot of effort. Even though this is normal "wear and tear", they still honored their lifetime replacement guarantee and are sending me ANOTHER entire set for free. This kind of customer service is what sets this company apart from others. Below is my review from a few years ago:I have a very, very skittish, timid terrier who is afraid of his own shadow - let alone scary scissors that in his mind, cause death. He has thick and wiry hair which is long and unruly because he's afraid of brushing too. That being said, he looked like a Rod Stewart-like rocker pup. I had little hope for any improvement or grooming for him. I bought the scaredy cut silent pet grooming kit on another of my crazy whims to find the magic solution. OMG!!! I started out by gently combing his back with the combs attached to the scissors. Why this did not scare him, I'll never know. Then I slowly started cutting. By the end of the night and a bag full of fur later, he was a different pup. My mistake was not taking before and after pictures. He is now to the point that when he sees the scissors, he knows that it's our private time for cutting and little treats. Needless to say, I'm obsessed with the entire technology. It's all very simple and you are guaranteed not to accidentally nick your pup when they wiggle. The scissors also produce a very even cut if you follow the directions correctly. On another note, I had one of the combs break immediately when I tried to put it on the scissor. I sent an email to Scaredy Cut and their customer service is beyond amazing. They not only IMMEDIATELY replaced the broken one, but sent me an entire new set of the combs. Their response time was less than a couple of hours.

Good for many, just not for me
Edited review 2/28/15:This company really stands behind their product; after I expressed my dissatisfaction with the trimmer, they immediately addressed my concerns by giving my a refund and offering me further instructions as well as a replacement trimmer. I'm impressed by that level of customer service and I truly think this is a good company that produces quality products (as I said in my original review, I love their Scaredy Cut Tiny Trim scissors). In my particular case, I was not able to use the trimmer satisfactorily (I couldn't complete step 4--evening out the fur with rapid cuts--even though I read the instructions and watched the instructional video multiple times). I opted not to accept the replacement trimmer because I don't want to take the chance of messing up my cat's fur again, but I am very satisfied with the company's prompt and polite resolution of the situation.-----Original review:I wanted to like this tool, I really did. I have the Scaredy Cut Tiny Trim scissors and I love them, so when I saw this I thought it would be a wonderful way to easily and inexpensively groom my long-haired cat myself. Spoilers: it wasn't.The pros of this tool is that it is not bothersome or alarming to the animal. The cons are that I gave my cat a bowl cut. A BOWL CUT.Have you seen Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber? That's what my beautiful cat looked like. The directions say that this rough, ragged look is a normal stage in the process; in the last step, you're supposed to effortlessly glide in with the trimmer and snip-snip-snip the fur into a lovely, short, uniform cut like the animals' in the product video, but that didn't work out for me. I felt so bad about making my cat look like a social reject that I had to take him to the groomer's so they could fix it.The only groomer's office that was open for me to drop him off at before work was PetSmart, and they only do Lion Cuts on cats. Have you seen a Lion Cut on a cat before? Go on, Google it--I'll wait here. Ok, did you see it? Horrible, right? It's flat-out ugly. My little guy was walking around with a shaved body and fur booties for months until all his fur grew in again. In this time period I bought a lot of festive sweaters for him to cover up what I'd done.Maybe an expert animal groomer can use this tool with confidence and get great results, but I can't. It was a costly mistake.

Love it!
I received these the other day and am so happy I decided to get these. It seemed a few reviewers had issues, but the seller always responded to the complaint and tried to fix any issues. I did worry since I am left handed but I have had to adapt to using so many right handed objects, I figured I can master these too. I used them on my long haired cat. She was injured as a kitten and since hasn't been able to clean herself well in certain areas. I took her once to be groomed but groomers that would cut a cat's hair is hard to find and will get pricey over time. I bought clippers but they seemed to not cut through the thick soft hair. It pulled more than it cut and took so long she would hide for a day or two after. These scissor/clippers kept her calm through most of it. They cut really well, but there is a learning curve I think for even right handed users. You need to make sure you are holding it at the right angle and you have the right guard clipped on. I found I needed a longer guard on top and shorter guard for the sides and belly. My cat still got nervous for her belly and privates area but maybe after going through the process more often she will learn to trust I am not going to cut her and relax. The seller also reached out to me to make sure I didn't have any questions or problems with the scissors. He also mentioned that there is a left handed version in the works for those that never got the hang of right handed scissors. Truthfully I used it with both hands because my fingers hurt after a while since I am not used to cutting like that. Using them with the left hand is a little backwards, but it can be done. Otherwise I would have had to stop and start again later or my hand would cramp. I didn't want to stress her out more than necessary.

Love it/ great customer service too
I bought this for my 3 month old pup to try to find him under all the hair ( Shih Tzu mix). Worked great although he was a moving target. Then, I need to contact the seller as they weren’t cutting all of a sudden. They answered my email the next day and sent me a replacement asap! These work really great. They have inserts for your fingers for better fit, the tips of the scissors are rounded off but blade is sharp! I highly recommend them. The guards are included. Very innovative design!

They work great
My dog dosnt really like the clippers too much I’ve been cutting his hair with these for almost 2 years now the scissors are sharp the finger holes are a little small but not a big deal the nut holding them together does like to work its way loose on them and u gotta adjust but I do like these a lot and the guards make it so that u have all the hair the right size it does take a little bit to get use to giving a good full haircut with them

Glad I bought these - a great alternative to the groomer
I have four dogs all under 13 lbs, some more cooperative than others, and I dislike leaving them at a groomer for hours...not to mention the expense for four of them. So far I've used the Scaredy Cut scissors on the smallest of them. It took about 90 minutes to do a full haircut on this 6 lb Maltese, who could be more cooperative, but he wasn't bothered too much. I liked that this is a safe way to cut with scissors, and the haircut looks great when following the written instructions, but I do wish the scissors were sharper so that I could cut a bigger hank of hair at a time. I can't imagine using this on a large dog with thick fur because of the limited amount of hair than can be cut in one snip. Also I wish the scissor loops for your fingers were bigger, because they hurt my fingers after just a short while. I had to remove the gel inserts, which were supposed to protect your fingers, because the inserts made the scissors just a little too small. Overall, however, I'm extremely glad these scissors exist because they are a great solution that saves so much money, so I can put up with the pain and time suck in order to save a substantial amount of money because the resulting haircut looks really good, and they are safer with a very wiggly, uncooperative dog than using my doggie electric clippers.
