Pollinator Friendly Gardening: Gardening for Bees, Butterflies, and Other Pollinators

Comprehensive and beautifully done.
I cannot imagine a more thorough or well done book on this very important subject. For those of us who have desire and space to create "habitat" gardens", it is a great gift to have such a supportive book as a reference. The lists of various types of plants for the various stages of butterfly development, such as larval, are very helpful and signal that different varieties of plants are helpful for different species and their stages. There are guest expert sections dotted through the book with a Q&A format that are very helpful and widen the knowledge base beyond just one author. But this isn't just a book about plants and insects. It is a call to action to help our eco-system, which is under tremendous stress, support the creatures we actually need to stay alive. The resources listed are very helpful such as organizations to learn more, for example, about hummingbirds, or bees. Although it is beyond me why more people and industries are not taking more overt action to stop the collapse of the bee population, because without pollinators our food supply is threatened, there is a good section covering this.It will take little effort on the part of gardeners to consciously include pollinator plants in the next round of planting. Use this book as a terrific guide and welcome the pollinators to your yard.

I love the book and would have rated it five starts ...
I love the book and would have rated it five starts EXCEPT the text is quitesmall. If I had to judge, the print is equivalent to approximately Word .9 Calibri which makes reading a little difficult if your eyes quickly tire out. Other than the text font size, the book is excellently informative and contains an abundance of beautiful photos!

Started a Pollinator Garden
Wonderful book with beautiful photographs and lots of good information about starting gardens that are bee friendly. I bought this book for my daughter who is very interested in the bee population and what we can do to save the bees because our gardens are dependent on the bees. With this book and another that I purchased, my daughter has started a pollinator garden for the bees to attract them and supply them with the necessary flowers and nutrients they need. Great book with good information.

Great book
I was so excited to get my copy of Pollinator Friendly Gardening. Perfect timing for ordering my plants. My husband got ahold of it first. Finally got a chance to look at it when he wasn't. I love the beautiful pictures. The plant lists make it easy to reference to for my orders. And the "ask the expert" in each section has been very helpful and informative. I'm excited for spring. Great book.

Great resource as well as introductory book
Interested in starting a honey bee hive, I read this to provide them a close food source. After reading this book I'm thinking about starting with butterflies and adding the hive on year two. Nice illustrations, informative tables and expert interviews with academics. I will reread this many times.

Saving bees one yard at a time
I found this book interesting and well written. I've read a lot on the subject beforehand, but I still found new information here. The suggestions for making your yard pollinator friendly were generally easy to do and affordable. The photographs were exceptional and added a lot to the book.

Great lists of plants for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds
I always wanted to know which plants would help support our local bee, butterfly and hummingbird populations in Ohio. This book explains which annuals, perennials, herbs, shrubs, and trees are best to plant for all pollinators. Now I consult this book every time I'm buying seeds and plants at my local nursery!
