NO. It is nothing like grits. It is extremely smooth-textured, not grainy at all. Similar to cornstarch, and while that doesn't sound too good, I came to love it while traveling in Africa. It is really easy and fast to cook, and I add raisins, brown sugar, butter and cream!! I know that might be overkill and it isn't really necessary to add all that stuff, but I love those other ingredients too. I definitely recommend trying it, even if you add just a little something, because it is quite bland, but a very good comfort food.

Terrible shipping, great product

Since we bought multiple, whoever packaged it used heavy duty tape to tape them together. since the paper is so thin, in transit it ripped and we lost half of the product. No way to get a refund either.
