You need the correct username and password to set up!
Hopefully this helps the next person buying a modem from Amazon! So the modem took a bit to set up and we could have saved time if we knew the procedure. At first, my husband was trying to set it ip alone and didn’t know that we needed the PPPoE Username and password from Centurylink. When I got home I tried to put the PPPoE username/password in (I was given a @centurylink.net username/password by the set up wizard). That didn’t work so we started a chat with centurylink. They sent me the same info I had already put in, and it still didn’t work. The representative said I needed to call and then immediately disconnected our session. They were little help. We didn’t think the modem was going to work. I sat there stewing with anger for about 30 min when I noticed that the info that the representative sent me excluded the “@centurlink.net” portion that the set up wizard gave me. I went ahead and deleted the @centurylink.net and internet connected! Wish I would have know right at the beginning. Would have saved a lot of time and frustration!

So far it seems to be junk.
This refurbished item would not power up initially. After forcing the plug in manually and rotating about got power for a few minutes then , nothing. Ordered a replacement. Still had to wait normal shipping. No special shipping considerations.Unfortunately USPS picked up the return package when they dropped off the replacement. So it was gone when UPS showed up. Now we have to chase down return package.Replacement product also appear to not be working. Power comes on but DSL signal will not acquire. So now I have to troubleshoot the DSL line to make sure it is not my service. This is so annoying.

Hoping this Technicolor lasts longer than the last one
I like the Technicolor routers...this is my 3rd. Had to send back a PERFECT ONE because CenturyLink couldn't figure out they improperly re-provisioned my VDSL service, and they gave me a crap router with range about as far as my leg is long, so I have been buying my own Technicolor routers. Both from Amazon are refurbished, and the first one lasted only about a year. I hope this one lasts longer.

Device is fine; CenturyLink service not so much
The device seemed to work. Powered up, I was able to connect to the admin interface over the integrated WiFi. All looked good. Unfortunately, I can't get CenturyLink to actually show up for an appointment to install service. Attempt 1: no show, no call, no tech available to do the job. Attempt 2: They tell me they enabled service, but forgot to actually connect any wire, which I told them was needed. Attempt 3: just flat out lied and said they couldn't get access to internal wiring; except the job was to install external wiring only and I was there all day, and they had already told me I didn't even need to be there anyway. So, cancelled the install and will be sending this device back. Too bad, I was so happy having paid a bit more than the cost of a new WiFi router to get this bit of 20 year old tech.

Amazon warehouse deal
Bought this as a Used-Like New model via Amazon warehouse. It definitely appeared to be like new and even came with the clear plastic protective sticker on the edges. Works great, as expected. Hooked up to CenturyLink DSL just fine.

Century Link Technical Support Would Not Recognize Router
Even though this came in as a CenturyLink, CenturyLink/BrightSpeed Technical Support would not recognize it. Please note that CenturyLink / BrightSpeed are horrible providers so the issue could have been with them but I had to return it simply because it would not connect and work with our DSL.CenturyLink did sell me (from CenturyLink/BrightSpeed) a C4000 Router which has been excellent. But I had to let it set overnight to be recognized. If you do choose to try this router, maybe let it set overnight and see if that helps connect up. We gave up once Tech Support said it was not recognized but can't help and wonder if we had left it set up if it would have worked (like the CenturyLink provided router).I rated this router average simply because I don't know if or how well it would perform. CenturyLink/BrightSpeed Providers are the ones that should rate a 1 Star (0 if possible).

Works great
I was worried since this was refurbished. It has scratches on it and looks well used but it works great and is easy to set up. Make sure to call cst service tech support with your internet company to make sure you register/update your new modem

WAS NOT renewed. Previous owners info was found
Our ISP found the previous owner’s account information in the modem blocking us from utilizing it. This caused us a many day delay in getting the service up and running. Additionally, our ISP technician told us this model is 4 or more years old and won’t last long. He suggested we keep it and get as much use out of it as possible.
