The salmon used in Solgar's wild Alaskan salmon oil is wild sockeye, chum, chinook, coho, and pink salmon. The only brand I've found that is comparable is Vital Choice's pure Sockeye Salmon Oil. They are extremely similar in oil color vibrancy (both are very pure and so contain very high amounts of astaxanthin, which gives salmon that gorgeous red hue). I have also taken New Chapter's Wholemega, which is quite pale in color and very overpriced (I have no idea what kind of salmon they use as they don't say). I recently tried out Barlean's Wild and Whole salmon oil and it is very high quality with a whopping 500mcg of astaxanthin added in...but it is TWICE the price of Solgar per serving. Ouch. They are all full spectrum oils, however Solgar's is a bit more potent, a much better price, I know what kinds of salmon they use, and I also like that Solgar's labeling is very detailed on the exact omegas you are getting.As a large softgel at 1,200mg, you'd think they would be hard to swallow, but no. They slip down no problem at all, surprisingly, with no weird burping issues that you might get from low-quality or highly-distilled oils. I can even take two at a time and no issues. And there is no need for annoying lemon or orange "natural" flavorings as in other fish oils. This wild salmon oil is just that...wild salmon oil, no need for disguises!Ideally, you really need a full, natural spectrum or profile of omegas that are in most fish; omega 5,6,7 and 9, plus DPA . I want a product that is as close to that as I can get, one step away from just eating the fish itself. With Solgar's wild salmon, you’ve got it all in one product. Now, for people who need theraputic levels of EPA and DHA, a concentrated product would be best.Bottom line: great brand, works beautifully, reasonable price, fresh and smells nice...if you like the smell of fresh salmon!

I'VE USED THIS OMEGA FULL-SPECTRUM OMEGA FOR several years now. A repeat buyer. Previously used several higher powered Omega 3 brands.... some claiming not to cause fishey taste & burping, but did... & others that worked just fine /no issues. But this Solgar Omega seems to be a cut above in quality & absorption,... although how can we really tell the quality with any vitamin or supplement?I USE THIS PRODUCT BECAUSE is contains the Full Range of Omega... not just Omega 3 but also 5,6,7 & 9. After some research and some common sense, I believe its wiser not to isolate /limit benefits to Omega 3 only. So I take the full Omega range offered in this product which helps absorption & better metabolize the full benefits of fish oil.-BECAUSE IT'S A FULL-RANGE OMEGA, the dosage level of Omaga 3 is not as potent as many single Omega 3 products. So I supplement this full-rrage Solar with a single Omega 3 product to get the O 3 dosage I need. That way I get the best of both worlds,... high Omega 3 dosage with the advantages of Full Range Omaga 5,6,7 & 9 too.-REPUTATION FOR HIGH QUALITY. Hard to know who to trust these days & after some research I trust Solgar brand products for purity and actual potency. The source of their fish is reportedly from areas believed to be less polluted.BOTTOM LINE: EARNS 5-STARS: This is a winner! No fishy burp up. Not just a one note product. Delivers a Superior range of Omega benefits with trustworthy quality.

Excellent supplement.PROS: This is the second pot purchased for me and my wife, it is very good, it brings very good quantity, excellent presentation, the capsules are large but easy to take.CONS: N/ATO THE SELLER: Thank you for making this purchase possible.FINAL THOUGHTS: We like this product very much, as I mentioned it is our second pot, my wife has also used other supplements of this brand, such as vitamins C, B complex, B12, she has liked everything so far. This omega seems very good to me, I take it without problems since I am allergic to seafood, but always remember to consult with your doctor before taking any supplement.

I've been taking the Solgar Wild Alaskan Full Spectrum Omega capsules (1 daily) for a little over three months. I am 71, and my hair has been getting thinner, and thinner, and brittle, over the last three years. I was skeptical, but figured there were other good benefits to taking them, even if they did not help my hair. Surprise, surprise. My hair has reversed from bitterness to just being dry. And I was pretty sure I had new hair growth, so I asked my hair stylist, and she said, "Yes, you've got new growth going on.". So I ordered another bottle recently. This bottle, I'm taking two capsules three times a week, then one on the other days, to see if that has a more positive effect on my hair. I can't say it will work wonders for you, but it's worth a try. Even though the capsules are huge, and I'm one who chokes easily, but have had no problem with taking them.

Not totally fish burp free, however, a great source of Omega fatty oils. Fish oils are a somewhat delicate product, make sure to keep them relatively cold. Solgar seems to be a quality company, however, that won't stop heat from spoiling the capsules.

This has been the best fish oil supplement I've ever taken! I hate seafood and can always taste the smallest trace of it, but there's absolutely no fishy taste or smell with these. And no fishy burps EVER! They are large but very easy to swallow and no after taste. I take it in the morning with other vitamins and then eat and have had no issues. Except I wish they would continue to make it as it's currently unavailable unfortunately. About to run out and don't know which to buy now.
