Baby Songs: Original

Our 20 month old loves it!
I bought this DVD for our 20 month old because she had lost interest in the two Baby Einstein videos we have. I wanted to find a simple video that has good music and is fun to watch, both of which Baby Songs accomplishes. Our little girl is fascinated with babies and goes nuts whenever she sees a real baby or a doll out in public, so I thought this DVD would be a good choice for her. She LOVES this video and watches it just about everyday for 30 minutes. She has learned the tunes to several of the songs and likes to repeat the fun actions that the kids perform in various parts of the video. One of her favorite songs is "So Big" and after watching it on the video, she now nods her head "yes, yes, yes" the same way. Even our 4 1/2 year old enjoys watching it with her little sister and quickly learned all the songs to which she happily sings throughout the day. I really appreciate that many of the songs in the video include dad and have him interacting with the children, instead of just the mom. Overall, we are very happy with this purchase and look forward to buying more music by Hap Palmer.

Baby Songs
I don't find this video/DVD to be corny or out-dated but perhaps I'm seeing it through a child's eyes. It seems almost timeless. We began with Baby Einstein for our grandchildren, and then added the Baby Songs series as they got older. This particular video is probably my favorite and our almost 2 yr old granddaughter loves the songs and asks for them by name. When our grandson showed signs of separation anxiety in pre-school, "My Mother Come Back" was a big help and we still sing it. The "Security" and "Today I Took My Diaper Off" are wonderful. I even like "Rub-A-Dub" with the Alien. The songs and visuals are intended for children, who somehow know when something is silly and not real. I don't believe that children are instinctively afraid of things, but rather pick up cues from the adults. Actually, the Alien is sort of endearing as he bathes and interacts with the real little boy. This could be helpful if you have a child who does not like to take a bath. I watch the videos with the grandchildren and we talk about them. I like the idea that the video primarily shows real children in various situations. I would recommend this video/DVD to everyone.

Best Toddler Gift Ever!
I hope this DVD NEVER goes out of print! I bought it in the 1980s for my own kids, and now I’m buying it for their kids! It’s always a favorite! The Babysongs music (Sheer perfection!) coupled with actual kids acting and dancing is fascinating for kids. The songs are still sung by Hap Palmer, but kids act it out. Since it was made in the 80s, the clothing and hair styles are all VERY colorful and fun, so toddlers today still gravitate to the moving colors! My son just wrote to tell me his two boys know every song by heart, and the DVD is their most requested DVD!

Mommy Comes Back!
This song is very comforting to young children who are having a babysitter or daycare for the first time! My grandson walked around singing it!

Baby Songs has become a morning ritual
Every morning my 2 year old wakes up and says, "I wan watch Baby Songs." She is ENAMORED with this DVD and knows every song. I even catch my older children (who love to mock it, but secretly love it) humming the catchy tunes throughout the day. Yes, it is corny and dated, but that's why I love it--I love watching the 80's get-ups from my childhood and all the messages are so sweet. I also like the simple, ambling pace of the filming (vs. speed-frame animation that hyper-stimulates kids). This dvd is a fixture in our home!

My kids grew up with this "tape" and now my 16 month old granddaughter is really into it
She's "into it" when her parent's allow her to watch TV I should say (they're really strict, when it comes to that TV)But I am going to be babysitting for her next month, and I plan to get some good use out of that DVD player when I go over there. The songs are so cute and addicting, and she loves music so maybe she'll be singing them when her parents return from ATLANTIS - it's a risk I've gotta take - grandmother's rights!

Doesn't grate on the nerves quite like other baby songs do
I had the VHS of this for my oldest and my middle child and they loved it. In fact the song my mommy comes back is the song We sang with my middle one when she was having terrible separation anxiety being dropped off at daycare. I purchased the DVD for my son, and it came with a bunch of new songs that we haven't heard before. It's not great music but my children have loved these songs for years and they don't grate on my nerves like some of the other kids music does

perfect and creepy
When I first began watching this I was sort of stunned at how bad it seems. It's REALLY old. So the fashion and people look hilarious. The songs are kind of weird. HOWEVER; our son, 15 months old, LOVES it. He asks for it a lot. And after you get over the initial "this is weird!" impression, the songs will grow on you and you will see how much your kid loves it. Do not abandon it quickly like some people have done. My wife and i have lots of little jokes about it and we make fun of the people in the video (dont judge me until you SEE them) while our son enjoys it. Win-Win. I couldnt imagine not having it.
