Head doesn't spin
I thought this would be the answer to the squirrels running through our backyard and planting all their peanuts. I have done like others and move the owl around to annoy the squirrels, however the head does not spin like it says it will. I want to try and see if I can remove the head and come up with a way to put a spring on it and make it a bobble head. Then perhaps I'll have better luck with it. The owl looks good and is a great idea, but it's light weight and I think overpriced for something that isn't working as it is advertised.

Good
So... at first I was going to return this owl, but it turned out to actually help with our squirrel problem. I thought it was something that is battery operated or something of that sort and I though it would do stuff like turn it’s head, but it’s actually just a hollow plastic bird that has a spinning head that moves if the wind hits a plastic fin in the back. I’ve seen similar ones at Home Depot for more money. The reason I decided to keep it is because we put it out on the back patio where my garden beds are and it stopped the damn squirrels from digging in my beds. I’m not going to try and fix something that is not broken so the owl is here to stay because it does what it’s supposed to. It’s fairly sturdy and comes in a nice box. Overall, we’re happy with the purchase.

maybe defected
for the most part the owl is doing its job. birds are keeping their distance. however, the head doesn't stay center. it's always looking left. tried many things to center it but it always default to left. rarely have i seen the wind blow it to another position. currently online to purchase a sensor owl which for some reason is what i thought this owl was going to be

Had no effect on the squirrel
I bought this as a squirrel deterrent. The squirrel was not deterred in the least bit.

Working so far!
I was worried about how well this owl would work as a squirrel deterrent after reading some reviews. I’m happy to say, it’s been three weeks and so far the squirrels have stayed away from my peach tree and my tomatoes. I bought two and put one in the tree the other is on the fence near my garden. I’m thinking I may move them around every now and then just to mix it up and keep those little critters on their toes. They do look realistic, however the head doesn’t move, even with strong wind.

no motion
owl head does not move. It has no guide to make it move when wind blows. Not fooling my curious birds. Time to get out the pellet gun

Keeps the birds away
After one day of putting the owl on my patio, the birds left my trees next to the table. It’s been two weeks and still the birds haven’t returned. I move the owl each day as was recommended online. The owl is light and did blow off the table with a heavy wind. I’m going to put sand inside of it to prevent this in the future. When guests have come over they have requested to turn the face of the owl away because it’s not cute but it has served the purpose of keeping the birds away and my patio clean.
