DII Basic Terry Collection Quilted 100% Cotton, Pan Handle, Black, 3 Piece

The tag says the product is 100% cotton but the trim melts and sticks when in contact with hot surfaces (the rest of the potholder is fine). Other customers have pointed out this exact issue and taken pictures. I sent DII a message expressing concern that their material tag was inaccurate and how dangerous it is to put what is likely a synthetic material on something that is designed to touch hot surfaces. DII's never directly responded to my message, instead they had their LAWYER call me directly. I interpreted that as an intimidation tactic which was really bizarre.

This product claims to be 100% cotton, but it is verifiably NOT cotton. The terry cloth and fill may be, but the border is nylon or some similar synthetic material. It has melted all around the edges from coming into contact with dishes at normal oven temps (325 F, for example, not at all extreme). Multiple customers have reported this same issue, yet somehow this company has manipulated reviews to maintain their 4.5 star average. The top review (1 star) is accurate. 100% WILL MELT!

The rims around the edges of the silver lining burn and melt!!! I would understand if they were coming into contact with a flame, but it's melting by just holding the handle. I would not recommend this product.

Only lasted one wash! Loved the colors and worked great, but were completed unraveled in only one wash. Completely disappointed. The towels from the same company also shrunk to nothing. It wasn't like I had them on super hot. Picture is before and after one wash! Horrible!

OK. They were cheap, but still, they should not melt. At first when the black material side melted I thought, well, only let the grey heat contact side touch, but it melted too. I am not welding airplanes here, just baking cookies . . . the black edge trim on the grey side, the grey contact side and the black material side all melt/burn easily. I was looking for a small potholder because my hands are small and I don't like the big rubber type products that are too bulky for small hands. I was trying to find the small thick material potholders of the past that always lasted for years but these are not them, unfortunately.

I am going to have to throw these away. They are very thin, about 1/4" and less when compressed. I have burned my fingers a few times. If you bake with lightweight aluminum pans and use pots and pans with heat resistant handles, you might be satisfied with these. I bake bread in Pyrex pans and also use cast iron skillets in the oven and on the burners. I almost dropped the cast iron skillet before I could get it out of the oven as the heat quickly came through these thin pot holders. That silver cloth does very little if anything to stop heat transfer. I have had thick pot holders with no silver cloth that did a much better job.

There are 3,144 reviews. Mine makes 3,145. Why review when there are this many reviews already? I don't know other than I looked for plain old pot holders recently and could not find blue, or if blue it was silicone. I actually got excited when they arrived, along with towels and a drying mat. Silly? Possibly. I'd recently given up 2 story condo on a golf course and most of what I owned in order to live temporarily in a very, very small room with no amenities at all. It was an experience. I learned I do not need even half of what I kept. I'm now in a one bedroom apartment and starting over - simpler. I can cook now, and these will be the only potholders I'll ever own.

I know these are "generic" pot holders... but I've been searching for pot holders like these for a LONG time... I had one like these that lasted a good 5 years or so... it was getting VERY worn out and I searched and searched for a similar replacement... FINALLY I found these on Amazon... you saved the day again, Amazon. So happy with these. Light, but durable, insulative, and flexible. These are not big, thick, pot holders... these are light, slim, and have lots of give, perfect for what I need... I can grab a super hot pan handle, a cookie sheet that's been in the oven for an hour... whatever, these do the job perfectly.I hate bulky pot holders because there's always an issue with dexterity... I grab something and I either don't fully have it in my grasp, or I go to put something down and the pot holder is underneath it... I go to pull the pot holder away and it's stuck under the HOT thing I just put down... not a fan of that. Anyway, none of these things happen with THESE pot holders... which is why I love them so!Happy happy.

Believe it or not, I was having trouble finding just plain old pot holders. Everything is so fancy these days, and expensive. These pot holders were exactly what I wanted. They work very well, very heat resistant, and there is the bonus of getting three instead of two for an excellent price.
