Is this item compatible with apcupsd (apc ups daemon)

I'm running Linux only and can report that apcupsd works without any problems.

What is the battery capacity? in kwh or mah? you give "time for typical system" but not the actual number? why not?

Does this ups have a cooling fan that runs constantly? i am looking at the 950va variant.

I checked the data sheet for the 950va and it says: Audible noise at 1 meter from surface of unit is 40.0dBA. If you want to here what 40.0 DBA sounds is like generally (not specific to the (950vaunit) you can search on line for this.

Will this power a 5 amp at 500 watts amp

Dear APC Valued Customer, I am not sure I understand what you mean. This UPS BX2200MI maximum capacity is 1200 watts. So 5 amps are already very near its capacity. What we normally recommend is to use only 80% of its capacity to avoid any overload. So that should only be around 4 amps. I hope this helps.
