This is going to be a lengthy review so that I can hopefully help save some of you from having to do the extensive research and testing I’ve already managed to do!This is my third son and at this point I think I’ve probably tried nearly every sleeping option on the market! My baby is nearly two months old and exclusively breastfed which means we are up and down a lot through the night especially when he’s cluster feeding. I have the Arm’s Reach Co-sleeper but his eyes pop open the moment I lay him in it no matter how heavily he is sleeping. After seeing over half the moms in every mom group I’m a part of declaring their love for the Rock N Play we decided to give it a try. I’ll admit my baby boy actually did a little better in his Rock N Play because it somewhat replicates the feeling of being held but the few extra cat-naps he was catching wasn’t worth the stress it wound up creating for me. The downside to the Rock N Play is the concern for SIDS and the fact he isn’t sleeping flat on his back on a firm surface and that it positions him so that his chin rests somewhat on his chest! So we were back at square one and I was literally falling asleep at the dinner table from the lack of sleep I was getting (plus trying to keep up with three children and a husband in general, ha!) when I started looking into in-bed co-sleeping options. I debated on the DockATot but couldn’t justify the money after everything else I had already purchased to try and get a decent night’s sleep and I wasn’t sold on the reviews either. I had spent hours and hours day after day researching the safest sleep options before having each of my children and this was no exception. After a few additional hours reading reviews I finally decided to give the Snuggle Nest a try and I’m so glad I did! The day it arrived my husband came bursting through the door like he had won the lottery and presented our newest glimmer of hope! We held our breath and crossed our fingers as we put our little guy down in his new bed and slowly backed away. We waited...and waited...and waited. Much to our delight his eyes didn’t pop back open like they had every other time we had laid him down in his big crib and his bedside co-sleeper. He slept! My husband slept! Finally I slept! I pushed his little bed against our headboard and ended up sleeping with my hand laid lightly on him so that I was still aware of his presence in our bed. I’ll add that the Snuggle Nest doesn’t take up much room in our king sized bed. It isn’t plush because babies need to sleep on a firm, flat surface to reduce the risk of SIDS. The top half of the Snuggle Nest bed has fairly firm and sturdy sides but the bottom half is soft and has an area that allows you to rest your arm beside the baby. As far as esthetics go I purchased the Navy Swiss pattern (in extra long) and find it to be quite adorable. The only negative I could find was rather minor and it was that I had to order specific sheets to fit the bed that will not fit anything else we own. We put a regular bassinet sheet on it for the first night and tied it tightly but it definitely didn’t fit well. It’s a small price to pay to finally be able to sleep and, truthfully, had we purchased this to begin with and skipped the other big ticket sleep items we would have saved so much money that spending an extra $12 on a pack of sheets would have been more then reasonable! Haha! We really do love our Baby Delight Snuggle Nest and are so thankful to finally be getting some sleep!*Disclaimer*In the pictures I posted you will see my baby with a loose blanket over him. Don’t panic! I was laying there with him and got up to take a picture to add to my review. He doesn’t sleep that way even though he’s swaddled and therefore cannot pull the blanket up over his face!
