This little kit is ridiculously simple and incredibly useful. I needed to re-key my Kwikset SmartKey locks and was expecting the kind of DIY project that starts with confidence and ends with me searching YouTube while holding three mysterious leftover parts. Nope. The process was quick, easy, and worked perfectly. Within minutes, I had my locks re-keyed to the key I wanted without replacing the locks or calling a locksmith. The SmartKey tool is tiny, but apparently it possesses powers far beyond its size. Just make sure you actually have Kwikset SmartKey locks because this kit is specifically designed for them. Five stars. I saved money, everything worked on the first try, and for approximately five minutes I walked around the house feeling like a professional locksmith. My family was significantly less impressed than I was.

This product is great! Instructions were easy to follow and I was able to rekey 4 door locks and 4 deadbolts in a very short period of time. No more changing whole key sets! Also, you can rekey all locks to match the same key! Highly recommend for price, quality, and ease of use. The only thing confusing about this product are the 2 alternative keys. I realized later that these are separate if you want to rekey doors for a brief time — perhaps for a realtor, cleaning, or maintenance person to access the home. Or maybe to use the home as a short term rental. That could use better explanation. Is there something else different about these keys?? 4 keys is also great! Enough to not need to pay to have more keys made.

Looked up how to video, it was incredibly easy after that. Just took seconds to rekey. 4 keys included plus a different set of 2 keys in case you need to rekey temporarily for guests and switch back later. Switching all knobs & deadbolts to Kwikset SmartKey!

Easy to re-key and set works and the keys are different. Nothing of what You can read in some negative posts. Perfect service. Today I did re-key with gadget which is in the set, not with what came with my lock 980.
