As an experienced modder, I can tell you that these do not fit as easily as the non-OLED joycons. The OLED joycons have the same configuration as previous models but with different component sizing. The most important part with making these LEDs work relies on a ZIF flex cable connection. The bar compresses with less space since the OLED flex cables are much thinner at the point of connection.So, you’ll end up with a the bar popping off and damaging your connector and be forced to connect the flex cable with other means (i.e., glue, putty, etc.) to keep the cable in place.I was able to make it work and the final product looks nice. However, just know that the two variations of OLED joycon will have issues and are NOT a straightforward installation.

I have purchased the set and this is my review on the LED kit. I went into the entire project blind and used my knowledge in electronics to carefully reverse engineer the console and perform this swap. Take your time (it took me 4 hours total) or find a shop or friend to do this for you. That being said, if you just plan to swap your LEDs and nothing else, there is an easier way to do it.When taking the Joycons apart, once you take the 4 main screws off and separate it, you can use your spudging tool to carefully lift the plastic piece holding the ribbon cable for the LEDs off and remove it, replacing it, just do it in reverse.If you're doing a shell replacement, you can do this step just about any time. Easiest when putting it back together and you have access to the circuit board under the battery compartment. When disassembling the joycons, do not under any circumstances take any other ribbon cable off. Transfer the guts as one piece carefully. See my matching Switch and Joycon Review for this kit for more tips.Dock is pretty easy, that was my first tackle in doing this job, if you see a screw, take out the screw and work your way in. When removing Y screws, use as much force as you can and use small movements when turning the screwdriver. This kit came with the nice gold multibit driver which was great to use, but you will need the small one to remove the screw on the bottom right after you take out the circuitboard.The LEDs are nice and bright but the diffuser of the Switch didn't make them annoyingly bright like if you put the Joycons into the comfort grip, they won't blind your face.Do the work for the entire project and you'll be satisfied with the results. First of all I'd consider myself having advanced experience modding Switch consoles and joycons, so this review is coming from someone that has dismantled and reassembled multiple units, that being said this is a relatively simple mod that will for the most part go unnoticed by the casual observer but for those who do notice it will catch their eye. If your joycons already have been customized this is the perfect finishing touch to bring your build together. Installation takes less than an hour and once complete your LEDs will brightly glow your purchased color. The only issue I see is the limited selection of colors available, other than that these are a must buy for anyone looking to fully customize their Nintendo Switch joycons and/or dock.

I bought 3 different colors pics shown left being new color right being old color .. the thickness was spot on and it fit perfectly into the joy con it was super easy to seap out just make sure you have the correct screw driver set to open the joycon case cause the screws to open it can be stripped easily.. but this piece easy to swap out just remove the old ribbon cable and 2 screws that hold it on and there you go i was able to do the swap in about 5 min but i can do a joycon replacements in about 10 so i work fast. But still for anyone else i would say it shouldnt take more then 20 min tops and thats being slow and careful

The cable end on these is too thick for the connector on newer joy-cons that come with the OLED. I have modded for 20 years, so experienced. Closing down the black holder flap even slowly, breaks it off. I had to order another motherboard. Even that, going slow, one half of the black holder flap detached, but still working and holding cable. I quickly coated it with conformal coating, and cut a small cube of blue foam to stick over it, so when I put the middle plastic layer on, it will push the foam down onto the connector to stabilize it..better than a third motherboard.

These are amazing! i cannot wait to try some other colors on friends systems. Already have 2 sets of the violets ordered and getting another set for a friend now.These are much brighter than the stock ones, and the color is gorgeous.Only wish they had an RGB one that rotated colors or controlled it somehow. Or maybe just more colors to chose from. But what they offer is incredible.Very easy to install, and is possible without removing the battery holder, but i recommend just saving the time and removing it. 3 simple screws more and then its easier to work the clip on the micro ribbon cable.

I could not be happier with these. The video extremerate made walks you through the whole process and shows each step clearly. I've replaced the joycon shells before (using the basstop ones in the picture because I didn't know extremerate made them) so the joycons were easier for me personally. The video was a huge help for replacing the dock though and made it super easy to install and was pretty neat to see inside (albeit just a green PCB with a ribbon cable).And a bonus is all the extra included screws in case you strip any of the ones already in the system.The lights are a bit brighter than the stock green ones, but that's not really a bad thing, just a note.10/10 would recommend (wish I could have bought a red/blue pair though instead of needing to buy a full red and a full blue kit)

Fairly easy to install, and this saved me from ordering replacement ribbon cables from Ali Express since i broke my originals while trying to replace the joystick. First thing I noticed was that the LED's themselves are very bright, and sorta shine like a spotlight. I prefer subtle looking lights so even though the colour is nice I find the brightness to be distracting.I don't know if the brighter looking LED's would have an effect on the battery life of the Joycon so it might be something worth keeping in mind.EDIT:After 1 week of use I haven't noticed any particular battery drain. LED's are still too bright for my taste however.

Well made - I bought the Pink ones for my Atomic Purple JoyCons as I had a faulty ribbon cable in my SNES pair - there's no Red/Yellow/Green/Blue LED strips. Installed the new pink ones and used the spares to repair my SNES JoyCons. The new ones are significantly brighter than the stock LEDs.If you're looking at this product, you've no doubt already replaced shells or analog sticks. The LED SL/SR strip is easy by comparison, requiring the removal of only two screws and one ZIF connector.

This item could gave been great and I would have given it 5 stars. However, the little circuit board for the switch dock was back to front, meaning that the led light had to be inserted the wrong way in order for it to fit. This has resulted in a very dim light on the Switch dock which doesn't look great. The SL SR leds are very bright and look great.

Works fine installed in a couple of minutes
