I saved for a long time to purchase this pack. The pack was heavier in weight than expected, but that goes with buying top quality that will last you a life time and your grandchildren when past down. High quality leather straps and buckles. It came with super soft, high quality deer Hyde leather shoulder straps. The main inside compartment has so much room, allowing you to carry enough gear for a weekend of winter camping. My pack also came with a waist belt. Overall it was worth the wait.

Love this pack, it is my every day carry and i love it. It a beautiful combination of leather and canvas. If you like old school heavy duty gear this is the pack for you. Amazing pack!!!

This bag is incredible. Yes, it is on the heavy side as when compared to a bag made of cordura or nylon however, it is exceptionally well built by people who really care about their craft and have carried a loaded pack before. I reference this because of its expandability and how comfortable the shoulder pads are to use. So comfortable in fact, that I purchased their messenger bag version of the 1" shoulder strap pad for my ridiculously overloaded and heavy Vermilyea Pelle messenger bag. I have used the Isle Royale bag in both outdoor excursions, as well as a travel bag in lieu of a suitcase, with the use of Bagail Packing Cubes. I highly recommend this pack made by the wonderful folks at Frost River.

I love everything about this pack and I believe it was well worth the money. I disagree with most reviews that say it’s not good for long hikes. Maybe not the best for 100 degree weather but it’s great for me. If I could complain about anything it’s that this pack is a bit bigger than I expected. It’s huge when it’s fully expanded
