A decent set but a little over-priced with a couple of essential practice tools missing....IMO
There are many leather tool sets available all with varying prices and contents - what makes this one different is the tool box. When lifting the lid, I was initially overwhelmed as it was packed with things - as you can see in one of my images as I lifted the lid...that was until I realised that the tools were sitting on top of a foam wrapped self-assembly 'tool box'. Bearing in mind the price point - once the tool box was removed it suddenly didn't seem so overwhelming.Yes there are many tools there but, I found that although there are a few good quality tools, the rest seemed to consist of the leather stamps (which are small heads) and cheap items - there is actually a separate bag that was just filled with cheap things - this to me is making up the numbers of contents in the box as often happens as to me, this lowers the overall quality. There are a few good quality things and the cutting board was one of the things I particularly like as being a sewist, I have a few - this one, although only A4 is size, it is quite thick and when I used my rotary cutting on it with fabric, it didn't slice into the mat which is a good sign.I am a aware this is more aimed at beginners - that I would be if I started on leather work instead of faux leather but I am aware of such things and I think that if two things in particular were added instead of the cheapo bag of things, it would be much more useful and something to actually practice with; Stick punch tool (looks like a fork) and an edge beveller would be great for a novice to practice with but not included. These are included in other kits, so no reason not here - it would make the price point more realistic. The tool box looks great - and it will be useful to organise your tools - I am not sure I like it personally as I cannot work out what it is made of - it is so soft and lightweight and to me feels like something between balsa wood and foam - it is really strange and when putting in the screws, one twist too many and it gives a big dent so it is not robust - once you have it in place, you would need not to move it around. I had used some of the foam that was wrapped around it and cut them to size to line the bottom of the three compartments when photographing as it would dent very easily. The box is easy to assemble and you will find the screws in a bag amongst the tools – not in with the box like expected and I didn’t realise what they were at first.Overall, the set has some decent tools included but to me (which of course is subjective) it is over-priced – even with the tool box included as others have bags/cases and is spoiled with the missing tools that I think would be great for beginners to practice on without having to buy separately.
