Third Raleno light I've bought - I love them.
I've bought two of the bigger Raleno lights and I wanted a smaller one that can be hotshoe mounted on a camera. That makes it ideal for giving front lighthing on your subject. I use lights to the side of me to light up the background for when I make YouTube videos. I just needed a bit more light on myself and this light is small and convenient enough to be used for that. Might be a bit big to use on a very small compact, but it's fine on my micro four thirds cameras. The big benefit is the built in rechargeable battery. It makes the whole unit so easily transportable. Lighting output is quite soft, although of course it's not a massively bright light (nor is it intended to be). It does, however, throw out more light than you might expect. That makes it useful for keeping ISO down and reducing noise. I use it for video filming, but you could use it perfectly well for stills photography and macro etc. It doesn't weigh much at all. I would like to have seen some kind of carry case included, but at this price I really can't complain. The box it comes in is a sturdy box for storing it, even if it's not very elegant! For small product items it's a useful light for taking product shot type photos. Another use, which it would be ideal for given its small footprint, is as a hair or kicker light. You can dial in the power you want and it's small enough to mount in a variety of ways.

Good Quality Affordable Lighting
This is my first LED light. Was looking for some LED light so I can do video recording/streaming using my aps-c camera without sensor bending/flickering. Browsing through youtube, found some recommendation from Viltrox but then came across this Raleno 116LED. Considering at this price point with built-in battery, was kinda sceptical at first but reading some good reviews I thought it would like to try as well. It is bright enough for a small room/indoor video/photo project, have good range of color temperature as well as brightness. On/Off switch, smooth potentiometer. But there is one thing that make it great is that you can power it through micro USB/USB C connected to power bank or portable charger, which makes this light potentially capable to work for longer period of time. There is screen that shows battery level, color temperature and brightness which is awesome. Built quality relatively good, made out of industrial plastic, I don't think it will withstand a drop onto a concrete but in general all type of all LED won't be that robust. It came with a stand that you can use on hotshoe or any kind of tripod. In term of weight, it certainly not on the light part to be comfortably use on the hotshoe but certainly not that heavy it wouldn't be problem to use with extension arm on the cage. Altho the LED are covered with a built in diffuser, I would say that the light still a little bit harsh at closer range (1m or 2m away) and gradually diminished. But at this price, really there is not much to complaint, except that I would never know how is the endurance will perform. Will definitely update if it dead for no good reason.

Definitely made a difference to my photos/videoing!
I used this for photos and videoing, its definitely made a difference! Its brilliant as you can adjust the brightness and the colour easily. Its easy to charge as I can just plug it in via USB. One of the main reasons I bought this video light was because of the size of it and how portable/lightweight it would be so I can take it anywhere, it also doesn't take up loads of room like other video lights I've had.

Portable and strong
Very pleased with this light. - Portable and lightweight - Battery expectations should be realistic: small, will last for 40-60min on lower intensity and much shorter on high intensiry - Sturdy and seemingly durable - Very bright and good range of temperature - A game changer for selfies/self recording, portrait etc

Soft light means soft...
Life would be much simpler for purchasers of Raleno lights if the model no was more clearly indicated in the initial entry. I purchased the PLV-S116. That, apparently is the number of leds... I say apparently because unlike many light panels it's not possible to see the rows of Leds and that is exactly why I chose it. My immediate need is a light source for slide digitising and for convenience sake I was looking for something that could be directed at the slide holder from short range. I thought that the usual visible grid might result in hot spots. I could improvise a diffuser but thats not particularly convenient when you have to put everything away at the end of a session, so this caught my eye as soon as I saw it. I'm happy to report that the textured white panel does seem to produce an even illumination, even when viewed at point blank ranges. It arrived just about fully charged, which was surprising but convenient. I've been using it at at mid range settings - 4,400K, 44% and at f8 I've been using shutter speeds between 1s and 1/30s (which is no problem for bellows use). I seem to be using about 3/4 battery in a couple of hours or so - can't take a longer session anyway! It was barely warm at the end. It is light enough to use on a magic arm, and came with a charging cable and a plastic pivot for hotshoe use. Plastic, but stout enough, IMO. I've only had it for a few days but it has made my task easier because I can now monitor focus and dust much more readily than I could when using flash. I'm very happy with it. I docked it 1 star for versatility because the vulnerability of the protruding control knobs make it unlikely that I would use it out and about and that is my only criticism of it. For table top photography it seems excellent. The makers profess a concern for eye safety. I'm no expert, but I've been using it facing me for 2 hours at a time and have not been aware of any discomfort.

Well made, maybe a bit too bright
Nice bit of kit, but it's maybe just slightly not right for what I need, hence I'm not scoring it as well. Using this to help better light me on zoom calls as I'm working from home and the nights draw in. It's pretty bright! Close up it's not advisable - you need to move it away from you a bit. I have it about 1m away and slightly to the side and it's okay (i.e. you don't want it right by your screen/camera). I'm only running it on a low 2% brightness and 3400k warm setting at that distance, and I have an LED 60W equivalent for a desk light. Really like the display on the back, though I wonder if it might save some battery to be able to turn it off. Despite that, the battery seems pretty good, and it seems to charge while running, though I've not done longevity tests with it to see if it powers from the usb continuously. Seems well made. Light is fairly diffuse, but as I say, straight in the eyes it could be a bit much. I was a bit mistaken over the connector, for some reason I thought it had a clip, but it's actually just a camera-size female screw on the bottom for mounting on a stand, and the attachment allows it to fit a camera horseshoe. It can stand on it's own, but is very light so could fall over on an unsteady surface. I think for a camera person, it can be quite a handy impromptu lighting tool, giving a great modelling light or small fill-in light.

A brilliant, versatile light! A must own!
Overview: A brilliant light for it’s size and price point with adaptability and compact form factor that would make it a useful addition to any situation where light is required. Not just for Photography but also for in a workshop or when crafting. Pros: Compact and Lightweight – Easily stored and portable ¼ inch standard tripod mount or included hotshoe adapter make it versatile to position 116 LED light provides nice even light Finely adjustable colour temperature with independent knob Finely adjustable brightness with an independent knob Clear display panel on the back showing battery level, brightness and colour temperature Built in diffuser for soft light Built in 4000mah battery Can also be used whilst its charging Chargeable via USB (Cable Included) Build quality is a plus, dials turn effortlessly and smoothly and the switches and inputs are positive. Cons: None that I can see. Points to consider: Brightness – Not really a con as this light is meant for close up work and although it is bright enough for most applications, photographers in particular may be left lacking if used outside on location as a key light unless it’s close to the subject. Reliability - Having only owned the light for a week up to writing this review, i can only give the initial first impressions and cannot comment at the moment as to it's reliability months or years down the line of use.
