As for a dimmer, you need to use a magnetic low voltage dimmer. **Q: What gauge wire is there for the 12V leads?** A: Hello: It appears that the leads are 12 gauge and they are stranded. Did not see anything about being weatherproof, but maybe I just missed it.** A: Yes it's rated NEMA 3R but is a steel enclosure that may not last outside more than a couple of years. If your intended use is landscape lighting and you're using mr16 or other lamps, you don't have to use a "driver", as they'll work fine on 12v AC OR DC, so a pool light transformer that puts out 12v AC like "Intermatic" brand would be cheaper, more durable, and still be dimmable. Usually 100w and 300w sizes available at a local electrical supply warehouse or pool supply store.
