Leather seems Good Compound not so good
I just received this item today and immediately started playing around with my knives. I must say although the leather strop seems to be of good quality which I won't truly know for sure for a while since I haven't had time to really use it, I can't use the compounds that arrived with it because they are so dried out I can't apply them to the leather. They are rock hard. I almost thought about melting the compound and then applying it but I was afraid of damaging the leather so I didn't. I did try to add a little water to the compound to see if that would help but as I did that and tried to see what it would do between my fingers it did not seem to help either so I just decided to throw them in the garbage. I will try to figure out something to do to make this thing work since the leather seems to be good quality as far as I can tell so far.

Good Starter Kit
I bought this to get started in knife stropping. I use and sharpen a wide variety of kitchen, utility and tactical knives. I like this set because it contains four strops (one piece of leather on each side) and three compounds of varying abrasiveness. One side of the strop does not use abrasive. After watching several tutorials on YouTube I was able to use this strop to achieve scalpel-like sharpness on several knives. The included instructions were useful and clear but seeing it done on video or in person is more helpful. It is a little small compared to other strops I've seen used but I stropped an 8" blade knife fairly easily. Now I have the compound to use when I make my own, larger, strops.Overall this is a great starter package, shipping was fast and it seems to be well made of quality materials.

Works as described
It is exactly as described and works well to boot. Comes with all the paste you need (3). Instructions could be clearer BUT you can self-teach via YouTube. Did okay job keeping my straight razor honed. In the end, for me, I went back to a wide strop. Worked better for me but I'm keeping this one in the workshop. Worth the money and useful.

BUY IT NOW!!!!
Let me start off my saying I was a bit skeptical about this product because of the somewhat blurry picture and brief description. I was also a bit put off that I had to pay for shipping ... Everything else I have purchased on amazon had free shipping but I decided to buy it anyway just because it was the only one I could find on amazon that included everything needed (stroping compounds). So to anyone who wants a little better description of this product here goes, it is basically a 4x4 piece of wood that is put on a lathe and taperd down to a handle on one end. There is a strip of leather on all four sides of the block and marked for which compound to use. One black one white one plain and one green. I was very impressed with it. You could see it was handcrafted and came with good instructions. This is my first ever strop and I am more than pleased. I used it on my spyderco endura4 ffg and it got it sharper than the edge that came on it. And after I worked it on the green side 50 times or so the blade is mirror polished! Moral of that story I am more than pleased and you won't be disappointed buying one of these!

Not recommended
Doesn't have the best fit and finish but it does work. Three of the sides are rough leather and they have a tendency to shed small pieces of leather as you apply the stropping compounds but that seems to be diminishing with use. Don't think I'd recommend it for the price especially after seeing how easy it is to make one at home.

Make any blade razor sharp.
I Just got mine today, and I am truly impressed by this strop. I have a set of 1K, 5K grit Japanese stones, which are great to keep all of my knives in working condition, but none of them had ever been extremely sharp. Well, after today that in no longer the case. I got my kitchen knives (J.A. Henckels, classic) to a razor sharp finish. Just with the black compound they passed the Tomato test. But how could I stop there? So I strop my way to have them all razor sharp with the white and green. Even my Morakniv is back to its original form. The green compound (Chromium Oxide??, not sure) made my Dovo straight razor very very smooth. I only had an old strop, and there is no point of comparison. Oh boy, it was a pleasure to shave, I have no idea! How have I not done this before? This was the best shave of my life. I guess I had no idea the difference a good strop/compound can make. Finally, as other people were mentioning, this stop feels home made. As is there is a family business somewhere out there making these with their own hands. This adds just that little extra touch of "niceness" to the product. I absolutely recommend this product.

Very nice 4 sided strop with 3 different compounds included along with some easy to follow instructions
This is a great tool aid for stropping various tools. I purchased my first one several years ago to use with my chip carving knives specifically. The four sides that allow for multiple grit compounds is wonderful for quick touch ups while carving. It is also useful for pocket knives and even larger blades. I recently purchased a second of these strops through Amazon which simplified things at the time. I noticed a few modifications which I consider to be very well thought out. The main change was the direction the leather laps off to the left side rather than the right. It allows longer blades to be stropped without hanging on the left side when used by a right handed carver. I write with my left hand so know the issues of right vs left hand issues on things like this. While I don't consider myself a pro by any means, this is my favorite of the 3 to 4 different strops I've used over any length of time. I'll come back for another in a few years if I wear this one out.

LIVE AND LEARN
Did not like at all. Could not return it because it was already used. THE GREEN MICRO FINE CHALK IMO IS HORRIBLE. ROCK HARD AND WILL NOT SMOOTH ONTO SURFACE.
