Cambridge Limited Business Notebook, 8-1/2" x 11", 50 Sheets, NoteTaker Portfolio and Refillable Notebook with 5" x 8" Notepad and Business Card Pocket, Zipper Mesh Pocket, Black (06126)

I had been looking for a decent padfolio for some time and this exceeded what I hoped to get. The quality on this is very nice. Only way you will get nicer is to go to real leather, which of course will cost a bit more. It does come as shown in the picture with a spiral bound notebook on the right and a small legal pad, and sticky notes on the left. Both notebooks are good notebooks with heavier weight paper. The folio on the right has a pen loop, the pocket that the back of the notebook goes into, as well as a pocket that could hold a legal pad instead. I suppose whichever pocket is not in use for holding a pad, could be used to hold a small amount of loose papers. The side pocket while using a legal pad would accommodate this much more easily, as the "legal pad" pocket ends up being inside the back of the notebook The left side has the lower zippered mesh pocket to hold a couple small items, the small legal pad, with an elastic strap to keep it from flopping when opening and closing the folio(nice), and the small panel which holds the sticky notes and contains some card slots for business cards or such. This small panel is the one thing that seems slightly cheaply done, however it looks okay, and is adequate. It may be intentionally done the way it is, to be less bulky. All the slots for the cards and for the sticky notes are die punched slits in the vinyl. All the card slots are backed individually so they have their own pocket. To replace sticky notes it will take the "pop up" alternating type sticky notes. It only takes a small pad, so will have to put a partial pad in at a time (maybe put paper on the last sticky note's sticky). The notes are slid in on the side of the panal next to the small legal pad. Also, all of the features on the left side are on top of a pocket to hold loose paper, It is a pocket open on 2 sides, along the top, and the inside side I do have to say the jr legal pad is what sold me on this one, and I have proved to love it due to having that there. I love jr legal pads for making to do lists, and quick short notes to put elsewhere later.

I'll post a more thorough review after more extended use, but my initial thoughts are very positive. I spent a lot of time searching for a nice pad-folio that I could use for school, during my internship, and for interviews. A lot of pad-folios out there are too fancy, or include a lot of things I don't need, like a calculator. I just wanted something simple, useful and elegant. I LOVE the fact that you can switch this out between a spiral notebook and a flip notepad. I use the spiral notebook (included) for school, and use a flip notepad (not included, but pictured) for interviews or meetings. I think I'd prefer the pen holder to be in the center, rather than on the outside edge, but that's a minor thing. I will say it's tough to get a pen or pencil in with any sort of textured finger cushion on it. It winds up sticking to the elastic holder and stretches it, rather than sliding in. I don't think it's a fault with the pad-folio itself though. I like the sticky note holder (which includes sticky notes) and the extra smaller flip notepad. I haven't used it yet, but I did play with the strap that holds it down since someone posted a negative review about it. Mine seems to fit fine. It did bulge the pad a bit after fitting it back on, but pushing the pad down fixed the strap and it was fine. I didn't think I'd make much use out of the business card holders, but last week during a meeting I was actually given a couple, so it was perfect. Someone posted a review stating that their business cards didn't fit without cutting them, but I've found if you wiggle them a bit, they fit just fine. They are pretty deep though (as you can see in the pictures), and I haven't tried to take the cards out yet, so I'm not sure how easy or hard it will be. I was surprised to find a slot to hold loose paper. It's behind the business card portion. When pushing papers in, it's a bit of a tight fit as you get into the lower corner, but if you're careful it's perfect for holding resumes. I don't think you'd be able to hold more than 5-8 pages though. Maybe if you flex the material it'll stretch a bit. Someone posted a review stating they colored the thread black. I debated doing that myself as the white does stand out a bit, but I think I like it the way it is. It folds back nicely and lays pretty flat (depending on what you have in the zipper portion). It'll take a bit of 'training' for the spine to flex perfectly, but it's acceptable and will work for what you need. It may not be leather, but it looks like it is. Very professional. All-in-all, this is a great pad-folio.

Summary: While an excellent padfolio that looks relatively classy (compared to the standard plastic binders that many students in an engineering school carry), the lack of an punched paper holder (as well as a few other cons) compels me to take off a star (to be fair, I am a picky reviewer - a five star produce, in my opinion, has to really earn it). It has every thing else I could possibly desire, and the layout is well designed. Review: As a student on the verge of graduation, I felt that I needed to update my image. No longer was I content to carry a sheaf of resumes inside a plastic binder, betraying my lack of "professionalism" at a glance, much like wearing an expensive suit with sneakers. No more. Now, when I walk up to a recruiter/interviewer, I can see them thinking: "Look at that dashing, confident, and cultured padfolio. Let's talk to the person carrying it". Pros: - Lots of writing space: There is a notebook, a flip pad, and a sticky note dispenser that is readily accessible. - Pouch to hold knickknacks: Be in your phone, keys, extra pens, or even a passport (a bit of a tight fit for that), there is a pouch that can hold any (small) extra objects that you might carry. - Slots for business cards: There are four slots for business cards of contacts you meet. If you have your own business cards, you might want to put them in the pouch, because there isn't much space to put a stack of them anywhere else. - Pen holder: There is a nice pen holder on the right side of the padfolio to hold a writing instrument that has a clip (so a bic pen without a cap won't work - why are you carrying a bic with this beautiful pad anyway?). - Paper slot: There is a slot on the left and on the right where you can slide any extra papers you are carrying, such as a set of blank letter/A4 papers. Unless you are carrying a really large amount of sheets, it should serve. While the left side is spacious, the right side holder is a tight fit. Cons: - Lack of a zip: The padfolio has no zip; so be careful when you take it out. A few times, if I put it into my backpack upside down, the flip notepad on the left fell out. - Tablet slot: I have seen padfolios designed to carry tablets (like iPads, Kindle Fires), but this does not have a dedicated case. It is easy to accommodate one (similar to the workaround in the next point), but this is something that might bother other people. - Lack of binder for punched sheets: This was a big one for me. While you have a flip book, a notebook, and sticky notes, there is no place to put in paper with punch holes. The remedy is easy, however. I bought a thin plastic binder (don't go in for one with big metallic rings - it might not fit, and it definitely won't allow the padfolio to close) with the metal prongs for putting in paper. I removed the large notebook, slid the right side of the binder into the back pouch (where the right side of the notebook slides in), and then put the notebook back in. So now I have a binder for punched paper that is easily accessible. Alternatively (or in addition), you can slip in a clip board in to the right side pouch with the opening on the top (this pouch really is quite tight, so don't go in for a clip board that is really thick or big - it won't fit). - Stitches: Just one question - why white stitches on a black material? Conclusion: While there are many good binders on the market, for the price point and functionality, this can't be beat. Also, I believed it was not real leather when I bought it (which is why I had to spend hours looking for a good padfolio); however, I can't find that in the product description anymore. True, they don't emboss your name on it, but you can find those for several times the price.

Delivered quickly. Decent quality. Does what I needed it for. Would recommend for anyone needing a handy pen and paper on hand keeper. Doesn't hold a lot but does what I want with good looking craftsmanship and for cost quality and value.

I wanted something professional for work, and originally had a folio style notebook. I liked the cover, but I hated the notepad and how when I flipped the page, I had to tear it off or have it flapping over the back. My co-worker just used a notebook for all of her meetings / to dos, and I liked how she could take notes on both sides of the page and never have to rip off any pages or have them in the way. I went on the hunt for a nice leather looking notebook case with a real notebook inside (and with some sort of organizational compartments as well). This was pretty much the only one I could find that I kind of liked, but I wasn't sure about having the little notepad. I was surprised there are so few nice notebook holders out there - surely more professionals want to use a notebook and not a notepad? Once I got it - I fell in love. The notebook itself has very high quality sheets (honestly, until I got this, I didn't even care about quality sheets, but it makes a big difference). I also found that I like the little notepad - I use it for my to do list and notes. I put a paperclip on the front of the notebook and put my calendar there each day too, so I know where I'm supposed to be. I also enjoy the post it pop-ups - very handy. My only complaint is that they don't sell the exact notebook as a refill. It took me awhile to find a similar refill (at first, I mistakenly bought one that was a "hardcover", which looked the same in the picture, but was truly a hardcover type cover). Then I figured out which notebook is pretty much the same, but it has 80 pages (item# 06062 if you're trying to find it), not 50 like the one that comes with this set, so the new notebook will be almost 40% thicker than the old one. I haven't switched to it quite yet, but I was unhappy that I couldn't find an exact replacement - would rather not make it thicker. That's not a deal breaker though - still happily using this notebook daily at work, and it's held up great! Buy it!!

Love it. You can insert both legal pads or spiral-bound (i.e., top-bound or side-bound writing pads) on the right hand side. On the left-hand side, there is a flap under which you can slip loose paper notes. A zippered pouch at the bottom of the left side secures any small loose items you may want to place there. What I love about this portfolio is that you can improvise it into being a handy lap desk. Here's how I did it: I slipped a strong 14-inch metal ruler into the bottom of the right-hand slot where you slide the spiral notebook, then slid the rest of the ruler under the flap on the left side where you can store notes. I pushed the ruler down so that it rests at the bottom of both sides of the portfolio and it converts the gizmo into a lightweight lap desk perfect for writing. The ruler, of course, is removable so that - when you're finished writing - you can slip it back out and close the portfolio. I also love that you can put any size spiral-bound or left-side bound tablet into the right-hand side slot of the portfolio and it will be secure. I prefer 6" x 8" spiral bound tablets. I replaced the tablet that came with the portfolio with my preferred tablet and it works great. And, with the ruler in place (see above), you can write just as handily on the opened-out left side of the tablet as on the right side of the tablet. I removed the two extra left-hand side pads that came with the portfolio. I don't need them to be there, and removing them creates the handy lightweight flat lap desk I find very convenient for writing. By the way, one reviewer said this was composite leather and gave a rather off-putting description of what that was. I doubted the description and ordered the portfolio anyway and found, happily, that this is a vinyl portfolio. Nor does it have a strong chemical odor as some vinyl products have. In fact, it has no detectable vinyl odor. Does it look like a posh luxury item? No. But that's not what I was looking for. I actually have a nice top-of-the-line portfolio for meetings. I was looking for a portfolio that is very handy for a writer who writes a lot and needs a comfortable and functional writing tool - and, with the above improvisation, this is the best I've found. I'm very happy to have discovered it. It actually does look very nice and presentable - just not like a top-of-the-line item. At $12.98, and with free shipping via Amazon Prime, I consider it a good deal.

Another great product from cambridge. My only issue was that the spine area was slightly damaged, looks like it was crushed. It's great for organizing my day to day. Great little pad comes with it. Very happy with this purchase. The note book that comes with it is great but the pages are a little thin.
