Review: JOY or ANNOY? making my lists - I bought this book last night, stayed up reading it until - oh - 1am? MADE myself go to bed because I was laughing so hard, then finished it today, still laughing. Eyes watering, good-thing-the-windows-aren't-open-because-the-neighbors-would-wonder kind of laughter. The entire book was spot on and I think it should be read in tandem with that other Life Changing Magic Book. Which I'm going to do this very afternoon. The author has it right. ALL OF IT. There are only so many fxs to give in any given hour, day, week, month, year, or lifetime. Fxs are finite, and should be doled out sparingly and only for things that are truly worth it and give JOY, instead of ANNOY. How many fxs did I lose by worrying about whether I was devoting enough attention to that one account at work that no one ever asked me about, and therefore didn't care about until I mentioned it? The minute I stopped giving a fk, everything was rosy. My job was infinitely easier. I stressed less and had more time for other things that needed further evaluation. Eventually, I stopped giving a fk about that job and found a new one that gives me JOY, which is really the whole point, amirite? I started evaluating everything that was not deserving of fxs and weeded accordingly. Toddler birthday parties that won't be remembered by said toddler? ANNOY. Ill-behaved grandchildren? ANNOY. Staying home with a book and the house to myself while the husband visits said ill-behaved grandchildren? JOY. Having a job that I enJOY (see what I did there?) despite being away from home weeks at a time? JOY. It's just that simple. Once you weed out what bugs you or sucks your soul dry with the effort of simply putting up with it, then you realize you have much more energy for the things that you love. Ain't nobody got time for stupid people, vapid relatives, cretinous children, or soul-sucking events. But it's all about balance and not being an a-hole. Very important points here that are well explained by the author. BTW, if anyone has a problem with language and F-bombs, then perhaps this book isn't for you. I thought it was eye-wateringly hilarious but then again, I swear with the vigor of an old sailor. Someone will invariably start reading and immediately clutch their necks and exclaim "oh my! the language!" in some shocked tone of voice, and probably write a high and mighty review indicating how aggrieved and offended they were, but that's fine. But you DID read the title? and hopefully you read an excerpt? so don't act shocked because no one really gives a fk if you still bought the book and you're offended after that. (ok, so maybe I wandered into the A-hole zone of the VENN diagram just then. #NOTSORRY Review: Practical Guide! - This book is exactly what I needed! It’s funny, straightforward, and gives real-life strategies for not letting stress and anxiety take over. The author has a no-nonsense but encouraging way of breaking down how to separate what you can control from what you can’t. I found myself laughing while also having several “aha!” moments. It’s a great reminder to stop overthinking and focus on what matters. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a practical (and entertaining) guide to calming down and moving forward.

F*cking enough, already
Bought this for a friend who has trouble saying "No" to social obligations. She's not a prude, so I knew the title wouldn't be an issue. And it wasn't -- she told me it's clever and funny, except that...the over-use of the F-Bomb got tiring and made her lose interest. So she thanked me for my thoughtfulness, but handed the book back and suggested I return it and get something for myself. Oh well.

Exceptional! If you can't get past the title, then move on.
When I purchased this book, I thought perhaps it would only be funny. I was wrong! It is in your face self help. I've read an excessive amount self-help books. This one was eye opening, profound to say the very least. I finally learned how to let go!!! I've delt with a family member for 8-years with their sob story, oh feel sorry for me. Poor, poor me. I kept trying to fix the problem. FAILED! What I needed to do was let go, stop wasting my time on their feelings. I can't control what a person thinks or feels. This book tought me that lesson. It's a tough love approch, it's funny, it's the truth that no one wants to hear or tell. Sarah spoke the truth! I feel so much lighter, my mind is free. For those that gave poor reviews, you should have read the entire book. #notsorry you made nasty assumptions, this is how I know you didn't read the entire book. I just ordered three more books and I will be sharing this philosophy everywhere I go. It's so liberating, I knock myself in the head, asking "why did I not do this sooner" We waste so much time doing, acting, being...and concerned about what other people think. If we don't do this, what will they think? If I wear this, what will they think? BUY THIS BOOK! If bad words offend you...#notsorry the message is more than a cluck or two.

Very eye opening way to dealing with difficult people
This book was really helpful for me with figuring out how to step up my game in some areas of life I have difficulty with. I do tend to be too nice to some people and I'm getting better at saying no but this book helped me figure out which people I have to say no to more. I like the NotSorry approach she suggests for some situations in life and I need to use it more.

Fun, witty read with an excellent message
Many people claim they don’t give a f*ck. But when it comes down to it, they end up giving many f*cks out of habit. There’s no 1-800 number to call in how to extricate oneself from all the social handcuffs we create for ourselves just by refusing to say – no. But now there’s a book! Work functions, birthday parties, spending precious time doing things to please others – it adds up, clutters our lives, and eventually becomes who we are. “The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck” is a handy, helpful guide for anyone who spends too much time pleasing people. As you read it, you realize how many f*cks you give on a daily basis, and how easy it is to just stop giving a f*ck without harming anyone but improving your mindset immeasurably. The funny, witty writing delivers a poignant message that with slight tinkering, and a little bit of backbone, we can take control of life without being insufferable assh*les. Can’t wait for the wall calendar, the mug, the daily app to remind me to stop obsessing over nonsense.

Over rated
The book offer a basic good idea, however the author somehow think it is extremely funny to use the F word repeatedly
