Designed for use in the smaller portable smokers, this 1-pint container of oak wood chips delivers a robust wood-smoke flavor. Often used in commercial smoking, oak works well when smoking sausages or when blended with cherry for smoking turkey. The chemical-free wood has been ground into a fine consistency that gently smolders when ignited, which means a little bit goes a long way. A great gift for any outdoor cooking enthusiast, the wood chips come packed in a reseal-able plastic container for convenient storage and, when stored in dry conditions, an indefinite shelf life. Made in the USA, the 1-pint container of oak wood chips measures approximately 3 by 3 by 5 inches. Review: Good for aging whisky - Been using this for aging cheap IMFL whisky and the results are quite remarkable. Now my refinished whisky has more pronounced notes of oak and some vanilla from the natural vanillin in the oak wood. It has taken off some off the harsh edge of the IMFL. Since this has fine pieces of wood, and consequently a large overall surface area, you don't need a lot of quantity to get the effect. Just 25gm carefully weighed, per 1L of spirit, should be more than enough. Soak the chips in AIRTIGHT bottle for 4-5 days to extract the full flavour. Once done you can use a strainer to remove the wood and get your liquor back. I would estimate that 1 pint contains about 130-150gm of oak chips, so you can use this for conditioning around 5-6 liters of liquid total. Review: Good quality - Good quality, but the price is too high.

Great
Use these to add wood smoke flavor when cooking homemade pizza on our gas grill fitted with a pizza stone. I use a small aluminum loaf pan to hold these.

Seems to work great for better price
I used these for some whiskey smokers. The chips are good quality, they work well, and a better value than many others.

Smaller bucket
Quite a bit smaller bucket than I expected. Was not worth to cost.
