After removing the kickstand from the computer, one hinge folded in nicely and the broken one fell out. I laid the computer onto the case, pushed and it cllcked in place. It's so thin that you hardly know it's there. When open and stand the computer up to use, you can stop at any angle you want and the case magically stays in whatever position you put it in through a perfect amount of friction on its surfaces. It is most definitely NOT for the ultralight crowd that values lightweight and aesthetics. It IS; however, great for the use case we had in mind for the Surface Pro 7+ for which we purchased this case. The use case is as follows: 1. EVERYDAY tossing into a student backpack 2. Protect against backpack contents like a stethoscope, keychain w/keys, metal insulated water bottle, medical scissors, other paraphernalia that clinical rotations require 3. Protect against drops from desktop 4. Protect for when one forgets the SP7+ is in the backpack and said backpack gets tossed into the back of an ambulance 5. Have a holder for the MS Pen 6. Not scream, "STEAL ME" in terms of looks and color at the local coffee shop 7. Sturdy enough to last the full 5-year graduate studies program for which the SP7+ was purchased So far so good, but it's only been one semester!
