Excellent sound
Works well, sound is excellent, the app recommended tie to keep it from falling off didn't fit. My only objections is unlike phone speakers is it often turns itself off after a few minutes of silence. But I suppose that's to conserve battery life, so not a deal breaker for me. It's nice around the house to not disturb others.

Nicely Does What It Needs to Do
Ok, it is inevitable to compare this to the Bose Soundwear (which is evidently discontinued), so I start there. Is it really fair to compare a product to another when one is about 3-4 times as expensive? The only fair way to do it is to compare "dollar for dollar," I believe. In that regards I think the Boomerang is really good, maybe even better than the Soundwear. Obviously if you put them next to each other and ask an audiophile to compare the sound, Bose wins. But this thing is on your neck and you likely are not wearing it to listen to symphonies, so how crisp and clear do you need the sound to be? The volume can get loud--leaving it on the counter and turning it up, you can easily hear it across the room. But again, this is on your neck. How loud do you intend to turn it? So, with that said, I really like the Monster Boomerangs. I wear them when I go hiking and don't want to have earbuds to completely block the noise, while I also don't want to disturb other hikers too much. Having these on my neck at a comfortable volume allows me to hear the surrounding while listening to music. Other hikers can probably hear my music when near me, but as soon as we pass each other, we are in our own worlds again. The battery life is quite good. I have used them for around 10 hours on different hikes and still have some juice left, according to my iPhone's battery meter. Pairing them with the iPhone for the first time was easy, and subsequently every time I turn them on, it quickly connects to the iPhone automatically. Not a problem at all. There are only four buttons, which to be honest I have not used other than the power on/off button, as I rely on my Apple Watch or iPhone for controlling the volume and call answer/hang up. I have received/made calls and the call quality was good on my side and I never heard any complaints about the call quality from the other side. Of course everyone can easily hear your conversations, so there is that. The only thing I wish was different (and in that case the Bose Soundwear does it right) is that these do not sit flushed on your neck/body as the Soundwear does. These rest on the back of your neck and there is a gap in front between them and your body. Nothing too disturbing, and perhaps it even helps with sweat not getting on them, but I alway know they are around my neck for that reason, even when off, whereas with the Soundwear, it is easy to forget they are there. This is not worth paying so much more for the Bose, so after trying them both, I opted for The Masters, and I am quite happy with the decision.

It is insane for video games!!!
If you even remotely like base, your are gonna go cR@zzee for what you get with these neck speakers. I do a lot of woodwork and I was destroying my over-the-ear, noise-canceling headphones with sawdust and sweat to almost the point where I could hardly hear them when my phone rang. Come on, you have some idea of what I am writing about. I bought these because they are BASICALLY waterproof so I figured they would be dust proof too. Well they may not be but they are way more than the Bose. PLUS, you can feeeeel the sound going through your chest. It is like rumbling thunder without the bright light. The ONLY reason I gave my "monster" a four is because no matter what, I have not been able to have then start no less then the sound level of "40". I would prefer it to start at the last level I quit at (like 2,0000.... just kiddin' about the number. That vibration would probably melt me to a pile of sugar that I destined to be some day.) I am serious about the last level. I would like credit if it is done AFTER this date. After all, I gave some what I believe was needed help a few years back in October 2020. (hint, hint "Re: How about "programmable" A/B buttons?" Yup, and I still have the e-mails. Thanks Roku community). You do that I am quite sure that I will buy another set or three. I did buy a second set so that my gaming would not be interrupted before I did not realize that you could use them while charging. They are quite comfortable. You can rename them what ever you desire on some devices LIKe the X-Box. Buy the case too. Those kool "monsters puppies" deserve it. I am serious about buying the third set. ENJOY!!!

Bought these to replace in-ear earphones
I have a slight bit of hearing loss in my left ear (no bass) so I am trying to get away from in-ear earphone’s. I bought these speakers as a test to determine if I like and might switch to neck speakers before purchasing a more expensive brand. These were on sale and made by the same company that makes Monster cables, so I selected them for my test. Pros: They are a great alternative to in-ear or over the ear earphones/headphones. These reduce the risk of the hearing loss caused by in-ear earphones. (Other causes of hearing loss are not reduced) They work well for audiobooks and meetings. I have not tried them with music yet. They work very well when laying down, as long as you are not a side sleeper. Cons: They are a little on the heavy side. I wear a necklace. The rubber middle piece sometimes rubs my necklace into the back of my neck. They occasionally slide around depending on what activities I am doing. The announcement when you turn them on is loud. After they have been on pause for 15 minutes, they loudly announce “Good Bye” which can be startling if you forget to turn them off. Overall, I like them a lot. They just take a little getting used to. I decided not to upgrade to a more expensive brand since they work just fine. Update: I am still enjoying my neck speakers. I have used them to listen to music and they seem to work fine. I've sat them on my desk and used them like non-neck speakers several time. I purchased the "TXEsign Neck Strap for Monster Boomerang" to keep them in place when I am moving around. It adds a sense of security.

Great sound! Nice and loud and gives a good experience.
I'm using this to connect to my tv in the evening when I want to listen to tv without using the regular speakers and need it to be a bit quieter so I can hear my elderly father who's in the living room area. My mom currently has a BOSE wearable sound bar that goes around the neck that is three times as expensive, so for this review I'll compare the two. The one thing that stood out is that this neck band connected to the tv easily and was way louder than the BOSE band. Read the directions as you have to hold the button for a certain amount of time and it prompts you and tells you the blue tooth is on. I think just went to the tv settings and had it search for speakers and just click to pair and we were good to go. My mom's speaker just wouldn't go up very loud [BOSE]. This one, the Monster, I discovered let me control the volume through the remote, and it definitely was louder. I got confused as I was wondering why the buttons on the side of the speaker weren't working when I discovered my smart tv remote would control the volume which is WAY easier anyway. My BOSE had the same function - but it would only play super low which was annoying. That was a serious pet peeve of mine with my mom's speaker which I bought her a year ago. The new Monster speaker was the opposite and was loud. I actually had to lower the volume a little. The BOSE version which is more expensive wouldn't go up high enough! The best part is the sound quality. It's amazingly clear on voices and the special affects are just like WOW! My mom asked me to order her one for her main bedroom and I suspect will find herself using this one more. I think this is a better band. The only item I found a little off putting is that it's not that soft on the neck. My mom said it was fine, but my skin is sensitive. Silicone sometimes bothers me so I'll probably just put a cloth on top of my neck and lay this on top. That's the one area I think Monster needs to work on. My mom likes it better because she prefers the thin part behind her neck when she's laying in her bed watching tv [she has one of those adjustable ones]. Other than that, it's worth the money. FYI - This is not a tinny sound. It's literally like surround sound. You hear the noises going back and forth and wow...I was just so impressed. If you're looking for a wearable band that is affordable, this won't disappoint. I'm honestly surprised as heck that they are selling it for this price. If they flooded the market, these guys would win. I'm so glad I decided to try this one. I'm currently connected to a Samsung Smart tv.

Could have been great only if,
I have to use earbuds a lot for both my full-time and part-time work. Sometimes I had to use earbuds right after a shower while my ears were not fully dry. Maybe because of that, I started to have some infections or ear ringing, possibly tinnitus. My doctor told me to reduce the use of earbuds or completely cut them off for a while, but I couldn’t because I needed them. So, I started to look for open-ear styles and came across these around-the-neck styles as well. After using this one for around two years, I’m sharing what I think about it for people who are searching for these types like I did. Pros: - I don’t have to worry about the ear canal thing anymore. This works perfectly as expected since I don’t have to put anything into my ear or have it sit on my ear. - The price is literally a fraction of the competition like Sony or Bose. This is a big factor for me. In my experience, the lifespan of Bluetooth earbuds is not that long because of battery degradation, and I don’t want to pay hundreds for these but rather pay something less than $100 and buy new ones every 3-4 years. - This sounds surprisingly good. The spatial 3-D sound works well due to its design. It’s like a combination of the good qualities of earbuds and headphones while still allowing you to be aware of your surroundings. Cons: - Battery life is really disappointing. The description says it can last 12 hours at 50% volume, but I barely get 7-8 hours at minimal volume. I use this in a very quiet environment and have to use it at the lowest volume possible. Even with that volume, I have to recharge it every day, and I hate that. - Because it’s not very energy efficient, it turns off after some idle time. Then, I have to turn it on and reconnect it. So annoying. - It doesn’t remember the last settings, so every time it’s turned on (with a super loud opening sound as someone mentioned here), you need to adjust the volume and settings again to your preference. - It’s much louder than usual open-ear style earbuds due to its design, so you don’t really want to use this in public settings as people around you can easily hear what you are listening to. Overall: - This will be the best if you use it for watching movies or listening to music while walking around home. (But, keep it playing whatever you do; otherwise, it will turn off with a loud ‘Goodbye!’) This type of earbuds may seem to cater to very niche users, but they actually have great potential if they could fix some issues stated above (especially battery life) for the next generation, especially with the recent popularity of open-ear style earbuds.

fantastic sound
The only thing I can add that I haven't seen in any review is: how long does it take to charge. I was watching a show and didn't see when the light went off, but it took between 30-50 minutes to charge. Pairing was easy peasy. The sound is amazing. I won't be using this outside of my home. I have a HICOPOWER neckband speaker I got to use with an HP laptop. The laptop had decent sound (couldn't call it good, but decent), however the speakers quit working. I really liked the 3d surround sound when I was using the neckband and decided to get one for my main laptop. Of course, it's not available anymore. I'd seen the Monster Boomerang neckbands when I was trying to decide which one to get, but couldn't justify paying that much for something I wouldn't be using that often. Lucky for me this time the Monster neckband was about the same price as the other one I bought, having a $30 coupon available. Yippee for me! And I'll be using it every day. The battery used in the photos is very close to the size of my Samsung phone (used for taking the pics so I couldn't place it there for size reference). I'm not afraid of loosing it, but I'm surprised at how much it moves around. Especially since I'm just sitting at my desk and the HICOPOWER doesn't seem to do that. It gets really out of kilter and the sound balance gets off. There are a couple of neck straps for it. If I was using it outside or had a job where I was moving around a lot, I'd get one. I have FX Sound manager/equalizer. Many great sound presets to help maximize my listening enjoyment. Still trying to figure out how I feel about the vibrating sensation. I expect I'll get used to it.

The most AGGRESSIVE audio limiter I have ever encountered on any speaker.
At first glance, the Monster Boomerang is a premium product. It has nice packaging, and the built quality is good. It is flexible and comfortable to wear. However, it has one fatal flaw that makes this speaker completely unusable for music. And it's a shame, because it has so much else going for it. The big flaw is that the audio has a limiter that automatically kicks in whenever there is bass in a song, like a drum beat. So in rap music for example, the vocals will be loud until the beats and bass kicks in, and then the vocals go quiet. So if you turn it up to hear the vocals more clearly, then whenever the bass and beats stop in the song, you will be blasted with the vocals at much higher volume. Every time the kick drum hits, the mids and highs dip on you, a LOT. This kind of auto volume limiting I've encountered in audio software and I am very familiar with what it is intended to do. However, it is executed so poorly on the Boomerang that it entirely changes how a song sounds as it fluctuates the volume up and down, completely against what the song is intended to sound like. Look, I love most everything else about this. I have a cheapo "Lanniu" neck speaker also, and it has no bass at all compared to the Monster and often sounds tinny and distorted. The Monster should sound better, and it would, if it weren't for the awful sound processing on it. Yet I just don't enjoy at all when my music is fluctuating in volume so much whenever there is any bass. It ruins the entire music listening experience. You can use this for podcasts just fine, but if that's all you're doing, save your money and get a cheaper one. I enjoy using the cheaper neck speaker for music way more, because it's not messing with the rhythm and vibe of my music. Any song that has a beat, you will find the mids and highs dipping HARD for every kick drum and then going back up. It is infuriating how much this thing messes with the sound. If anyone is interested, I might record a video demonstrating this effect on the Monster Boomerang and compare it to other speakers, and I could link the original audio as well so you can really tell the difference. Trust me, it is a VERY aggressive limiter on this thing and it's an absolute shame, a major oversight on a product intended for listening to music. I cannot recommend this to anyone if they intend to use it for music. Sorry, Monster. This is a fail. Perhaps it could be fixed with a firmware update. But until then, one star.

A total game-changer for chores, working from home, and walks!
I've always struggled with earbuds making my ears sore after a few hours, and carrying around a traditional portable Bluetooth speaker is just inconvenient. I decided to give the Monster Boomerang Neck Speaker a try, and it has completely transformed how I listen to music, podcasts, and take calls throughout the day. Here is why this wearable speaker is an absolute 5-star product: 1. Incredible Immersive Sound Because the speakers fire upward directly toward your ears, it creates an amazing personal sound bubble. The audio is incredibly crisp, clear, and has surprisingly punchy bass considering its size. You get a fantastic, immersive audio experience without broadcasting your music to the entire room. 2. All-Day Comfort (Truly Lightweight) I was initially worried it might feel heavy or awkward, but the lightweight design is flawless. The flexible material rests softly and comfortably on your shoulders. Within minutes, you completely forget you are even wearing it. It stays securely in place even when I'm bending over to load the dishwasher or doing yard work. 3. Situational Awareness (The Earbud Alternative) This is the best feature by far. Because my ears aren't plugged up, I can listen to my audio while still remaining fully aware of my surroundings. I can hear the doorbell, easily have conversations with my family, or listen for traffic and bikes while out on a walk. It provides the perfect balance of personal entertainment and safety. 4. Legit 12-Hour Battery Life The battery life on this thing is fantastic and easily lives up to the advertised 12 hours of playtime. I can use it on and off for days on a single charge. You don't have to worry about it dying in the middle of a long workday or a long hike. 5. Rock-Solid Bluetooth Connection Pairing it with my phone was instant, and the wireless range is excellent. I can leave my phone on the kitchen counter and walk all over the house without the audio dropping, stuttering, or disconnecting. Bottom Line: If you hate the feeling of earbuds but want high-quality audio that follows you wherever you go, the Monster Boomerang is a must-buy. It is comfortable, sounds incredible, and the battery lasts forever. It has quickly become my favorite piece of daily tech! Highly recommended. Pros: Immersive, clear audio with surprisingly good bass Extremely comfortable, flexible, and lightweight for all-day wear Keeps your ears open so you can hear your surroundings safely Excellent, long-lasting 12-hour battery life Stays securely on your shoulders while moving around Cons: Not ideal for very loud, noisy environments (since your ears are open), but absolutely perfect for the house, office, or quiet walks!

Ingen höjdare
Inget för musik, stereo ljudet svajar, irriterande. Startar inte diskret utan altid med med halva ljudstyrka och det går inte justera ljudet i förväg. Till ljudböcker och podcast fungerar någorlunda bra.

Most reliable monster boomerang
I bought this boomerang neck Bluetooth speaker back in 2020 to use while roller skating, and it’s been with me ever since. I’ve dropped it more times than I can count, yet it’s still solid and fully functional — which says a lot about the build quality. It charges up in about 30 minutes and gives me hours of use without needing another charge. The only real sign of age is some wear and tear, with the outer fabric starting to come away slightly — but after 5 and a half years, that’s more than fair. Honestly, I couldn’t resist coming back to leave a review. It’s been that reliable.
