Review: Great tool to make gardening easier - We have a very large yard with extensive landscaping and gardens. We recently purchased this auger to plant several new gardens. I am amazed how well this auger works and how much faster and easier it makes gardening. I use it on my 18 volt cordless drill on the low speed setting. It has no problem powering the auger for 10 or more larger plants at a time. I simply drill a hole and then wobble the drill around until I have the size of hole I want. It’s very easy to do and greatly speeds up planting. I also use it to mix up the dirt in the hole so I get a nice combination of loosened soil. It’s a great tool at an excellent price. I wish I had bought it years ago! Highly recommended!
Review: Watch your wrists - Useful and time saving but have you ever used a drill attachment (like a paddle bit in dense hardwood) and it catches? The feeling of your wrist absorbing all of that spinning energy when it comes to a sudden stop is serious! I'm working with coastal plain / urban backfill soil. It's compacted with poor drainage although the water table is less than 10ft. Right above the table is a gray, sandy clay and it doesn't get much better towards the surface. Also, notice the drill I'm using in the picture. I could probably be less cautious if I were using a corded drill or bigger battery in this kind of soil. It still worked great but I learned to use it with intermittent spurts while bracing my wrists. I was able to plant multiple plants and put a metal post in the ground with a lot of battery life to spare despite how chunky this attachment is. I wanted the bigger size because the more soil that is loosened around the rootball, the easier it will be to grow- less confined. Also, i plan to see how deep I can get with this thing and if it's practical enough to confidently put 4x4 posts in the ground. It is easy to make a hole wider than it's given size by making woodpecker rows. I may consider buying a used/cheap "junk" hammer drill just to use with this thing to save the wear and tear on my nice ones that aren't exactly kept in my garden tool box with rust and dirt. So far, I'm loving it and now looking for more reasons to dig holes in the yard.

Useful and time saving but have you ever used a drill attachment (like a paddle bit in dense hardwood) and it catches? ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Product as described, but i wouldnt buy it again.
*by P***R on September 7, 2025*

Product as described. Sturdy but the hex shape the drill chuck holds is not very durable mine got srtipped/sheared to a smooth round shaft after the second use in the heavy drill....i used a very powerful corder 12amp drill, when the bit got stuck it just took all the ridges of the hex shape rite off in a millisecond. I would suggest making this compatible with an sds drill to give it the best chance of working....this means it needs impact bend and sheer durability as well as a sds compatable drive instead of the hex drive. I tested this in a Dewalt DCD999, Milwaukee 2912-20, & custom rebuilt 12amp corded hammer drill. I cant actually reccomend this product. There is no person on earth convincing me this is more practical or efficient than the correct shovel or mattock axe....i have dug a lot of holes as a landscaper/electrician/hvacr/ well services professional....i dont care how old you are the CORRECT shovel is the bettter choice. I can plant more bulbs in 5 mins with a mattock axe in tough rooted soil than you can get the holes dug with this and any drill you want in nice mulch and tilled soil..physics is against this idea working for far more reasons than i care to explain. The amount of effort to make a hole in easy soil with this thing and any drill vs using a mattock axe or correct shovel is simply laughable. I doubt this will ever be a professional tool. Note i keep saying correct shovel, this is me telling you theres a 90%+ chance you have been using the shovel wrong your whole life and probably also using the wrong one...but dont feel bad i looked up how to swing an axe a year ago and couldnt find a single video of it done correctly until i got into some black and white footage of an old school lumber yard from the 1900s... Baseball stance people...The kids on the lumber yard swing the axe rite lmfao...big difference in input and output when you use this stuff the rite way. For your bulbs, roots, shrubs, and most things you would do with this drill bit try the mattock axe..heavier is better, learn how to correctly swing the axe, baseball stance, put your whole body into it and split logs and move earth in every single swing, it should be an effortless cylindrical movement that you can sustain indefinitely. Its not about muscle or effort its about body mechanics and using technique. The axe is good for the body, this drill bit will hurt your shoulders and back. every time the drill goes down make sure you use your legs to squat the drill out of the earth if your using the drill as a pry or stressing the angle of direction your damaging the chuck or gearbox, if you pull with your chest or frame your almost certainly lifting from the shoulders and the back.... So in summary, the maker of this bit did a pretty good job, well enough atleast me team can conclude with certainty this idea is a bust. This is a product for people too afraid to use a shovel that will convince themselves the shovel was harder out of fear of what might be that they didnt test rather than analitical comparison and information. My team being professional we are merocratic functionalists, so we will always gamble on something like this because if it can save us energy or time its a win, unfortunately this is not that, the win 100% stays with the mattock axe which is the undisputed king of moving dirt in all situations. To the people that made this, thank you for your hard work we look forward to new ideas that might make our lives better. Want us to retest this or test something else? Reach out.
