Buyer Beware
Did not work outside the U.S. I was informed that the device is not unlocked! Waste of money.

Works! (w/ T-Mobile too!)
Most carriers websites now how a device compatibility feature where you enter the IMEI and it will say if the device will work with their network. They all will say they are not compatible because they want you to buy their device or lock you in to a contract by giving you one free. Call the carrier and speak to a live agent or physically go to a carrier store. You will find that the device is compatible. Like the description says, GSM carriers. I called T-Mobile, gave the agent the IMEI from the ZTE MF928, the agent said it's compatible and when the sim came it worked perfectly!

Its good if you figure out where it works best.
My experience with the ZTE MAX Connect Unlocked Mobile WiFi Hotspot has been a bit of a mixed bag, but I can't deny that it ultimately gets the job done. One thing I learned is that its performance is closely tied to the carrier service you choose. In my case, I went with T-Mobile, and that made all the difference.Setting up the device was a bit finicky. It took a few attempts to successfully connect my devices to the hotspot. Turning it on and off a couple of times seemed to do the trick eventually. Additionally, I discovered that the hotspot's placement in my house significantly affected its signal strength. Finding that "sweet spot" took some trial and error, but once I did, the signal was much better. It's worth noting that everyone's experience may differ based on their location and carrier. With that said, I'm reasonably content with my purchase. The price point was definitely appealing, and once everything was up and running, the hotspot did what it was supposed to do. The main hiccup in the process was when setting up service with T-Mobile; the salesperson tried to upsell me, which made the process a bit more of a hassle.I should mention that this is the first hotspot device I've tried, so I don't have a direct comparison. While it may have had a few bumps along the way, it eventually smoothed out and proved to be a functional addition to my tech lineup.

Nice and cheap little hotspot - but not for StraighTalk
Much cheaper that the expensive alternatives. Will NOT work with StraightTalk (they only support hotspots sold by them), so I used GenMobile to start out (their $20 plan is actually $25, but the free month cuts it in half) until I find someone cheaper (maybe RedPocket?). I just inserted the SIM card and called GenMobile to activate, after which the hotspot got a signal and started working. I changed mine to transmit for the shortest distance to extend battery life, but I haven't had a chance to find out just how long the battery will last. If you connect to it via 192.168.1.1, you can see details like signal strength and battery level.

Buyer beware! I'm tech savvy and this has been a nightmare.
Bought this months ago. The carriers mentioned in listing is deceiving. Or literally three of these companies have a personal vendetta out for me and are just telling me bogus sh**, and turning money away. (This I highly doubt) however, I'm displeased that I wasted 20+ hours with two of the suggested carriers trying to get this thing connected, for my workshop. Now it's sitting in a storage bin, collecting dust. I need a bit of time away from it, before I reattempt to get this thing connected. I'm sure it would make a grand paper weight in the interim.

Quit working on day 32
At first this worked great, although the configuration is minimal and translated to English.Since it was new it would not reach the ZTE server to download an updated firmware.About 20 days into it the hotspot began randomly restarting at inconvenient times. At day 30 it started selectively filtering websites. For example it won't access certain home improvement stores, but works fine for others. It stopped allowing access to Google services at the same time. Manually restarting the device made no difference, it just blocks certain pages. Now at 32 days in it powers up but blocks most (not all) web traffic. It lasted just long enough I can't exchange or return it.
