Q: do the grips work as a handle for more leverage or just a kink protector on the hose?

Hello! I’d have to answer ‘both’ to your question. On one end the fittings are incorporated into a spring to prevent kinks, the other end has DURA-GRIP handles for more leverage to promote ease of installation. Hope this helps!

Q: Are these rubber or plastic

Hello, I have one of these sets, they are made from flexible rubber. The other coiled airline sets are made from nylon. This one is definitely rubber.
