After 300 miles my Chain is still clean and quiet!
I switched to this chain wax after years of using traditional oil-based lubes, and the difference is noticeable. After waxing my chain with this blend, the drivetrain runs really smooth and quiet, and it stays much cleaner than when I used regular lube. There’s no greasy buildup or black grime on the chain or cassette. The wax melts easily and coats the chain well once it’s properly cleaned. After it cools, the chain feels dry to the touch but still runs very efficiently. I’ve also noticed that the wax lasts quite a while between applications compared to most drip lubes. Wax-based systems like this help reduce friction and keep dirt from sticking to the chain, which can extend drivetrain life. Pros: • Keeps the chain extremely clean • Smooth and quiet shifting • Long-lasting between rewaxing • No greasy residue on hands or bike parts Cons: • Takes more prep than regular chain lube (chain needs to be fully degreased first) • Requires melting the wax for application Overall, if you’re willing to do the initial setup, this wax is a great upgrade for keeping your drivetrain clean and running efficiently.

Sous vide chain wax! So easy!
I went to a bike skills workshop several years ago and the instructor was very passionate about chain waxing as the way to go with a gravel bike. The science was convincing, but he lost me at "crock pot." There is nothing I would love less than to have to manage a bike-specidic crock pot in my house, taking up space I don't have. So now that I want to bring my road bike inside for use on rollers, I didn't want to deal with all of the mess of a greased chain. So I started to look back into wax, and found this gem from silca! All of the benefits of a wax system and I don't have to stalk garage sales for someone's used crock pot that I then have to keep for years even though I only need it rarely? Sign me up for this adventure! I used the Silca degreaser twice, in a mason jar, with some scrubbing and wiping. I'm pretty confident I got all the grease off, but in the future I think I'll add the chips that make this certain. I got a chain hanger and let it dry, then set up my sous vide. I live in Colorado and was worried it would be hard to get the wax to melt at elevation, but no problems at all. Left the chain on the wax hanger, and I had placed a grate at the bottom of the pot so the bag would stand up better and not touch the bottom of the pot. Watched things melt, did some occasional swirling in the bag, and then left everything alone for 15 minutes. More swirling, removed chain from bag and hung to dry (hung over the counter with some paper towels to catch drips). The bag gets a little bit squirly while the wax is melting, but aside from that this was SO EASY! Let things cool off, reseal bag, place chain back on bike with quick connects, wait until next adventure. So glad I found this, likely will convert my other bikes to this same setup!

Follow directions with exactness
I used the wax pellets in a warming bath made especially for the purpose . The wax covered and lubricated my chain exactly as designed. After a week of use, my bicycle chain performed better, with cleaner surface than any drip on lube I’ve ever used. Excellent product, but chain had to be clean, and temperature carefully monitored by the bath to get the optimal result.

Enjoying this product very much
When I heard about the full immersion process for bicycle chains I was intrigued, and now that I’ve done it for six months, I’m fully converted and could never see going back to putting oil on my chains and having to constantly clean them from the dirt they collect. Once you pick up a cheap crockpot at the local Goodwill, and just get used to wiping down your chain with a microfiber cloth and some denatured alcohol after every ride and applying the Silca super secret drip on wax on every roller, just like you would do with if you’re using oil, it’s no big deal, the process is easy and I now enjoy cleaning the chain, putting on the drip on lube, and then every 200 miles for each chain, completely doing the immersion in hot wax and starting over again, knowing that the chain is not deteriorating and is not wearing out the chain rings and cassette on my bike. It’s also nice to know that every time I ride the bike it’s super quiet and smooth, and you know that your expensive chain rings and cassette are not getting worn out as you ride. I recommend having three chains that you cycle through so that you can ride basically 600 miles, or 200 miles with each chain, before switching over to the next chain. You should go to the Zero Friction Cycling website to get more information about how to properly maintain your chains using the full immersion method.

Lasts and Easy to Reapply
Love it! I use it as part of the Silca chain wax system and wouldn’t consider using anything else. We have endless amounts of sand here and until Silca I spent too much time maintaining my chain. Now I keep 1 chain ready while I ride the other and it lasts. Rain and puddles don’t wash it off like some dry lubes. Never seems to accumulate sand. Started with new chains and Silca’s degreaser. Maintenance is just dipping it again.

Don't be intimidated by hot wax... it's a game changer
This was my first experience with hot wax and it went great. The hardest part was cleaning and de-greasing the chain and drivetrain. Once that was done the hot wax portion was easy. I bought a cheap 2 QT crock pot, put the wax in and set the chain on top. It did take 4 hours or so to fully melt the wax but it needs to be on low. I suspect a larger crock pot may melt faster, but it's easy enough to set it up in the morning and let it slow cook away. After "breaking" the chain and putting it back on the bike it was pretty stiff, but after a few minutes riding it was fine. I used an old paintbrush to wipe the little wax particles off the bike and went for a 16 mile ride. It's amazing... no creaking or noise at all and smooth shifts. Sure all of this can be accomplished with any lube, but being able to brush off the chain and drivetrain and wipe my hand down it with ZERO grease is what I signed up for. Silca hot wax is great... now to see how long before my next dip.

Amazing for dirtbike/ebike
Works really good. even on my surron in heavy mud conditions compared to other sticky spray on lubes it’s unbeatable. Zero mud on my chain compared to the other brands. great stuff. takes awhile to boil if recommend also getting a wax melter if you don’t wanna wait 15-20 minutes using a pot of water

For pros and bike geeks
Time consuming, cumbersome and messy. Wears off fairly quickly. Worth the effort though for the silky smoothness.

This wax + Endurance chip = 1k KM per application
This bag alone is 2 worth 2 years of waxing or 20k KM on average. If you add the endurance chip it will basically double it. Thank you Silca.

Efficacité et durabilité
Impeccable !
