## Description

The FLIR TG165-X helps you visualize the hot and cold spots that can indicate electrical faults, mechanical break-downs, or air and water leaks. Review: Great image quality and easy to use - I had a radiant floor leak somewhere and needed to track it down. It did a fantastic job easily locating the under the floor leak within less then a foot. This made the repair job much easier with less destruction of the floor area. It easily paid for itself the first time out. I then used it again in the winter and found a bunch of area's were heat was escaping from my house, some new gaskets and insulation bingo, now i'm saving on my energy bill! Great product! Its not cheap but beat the heck out of hand held temperature guns and other devices.

A: Hello,Thank you for your message.This item should detect a live source of heat (not dead) - it does not see through walls. It depends on the heat differential, and the thickness of the walls. It reads the radiant heat off of a surface - so if the wall and animal are the same temperature, there will be no difference. I had a radiant floor leak somewhere and needed to track it down. It did a fantastic job easily locating the under the floor leak within less then a foot. This made the repair job much easier with less destruction of the floor area. It easily paid for itself the first time out. I then used it again in the winter and found a bunch of area's were heat was escaping from my house, some new gaskets and insulation bingo, now i'm saving on my energy bill! Great product!
