Book was in perfect condition, and is am amazing read.

Will most def use this in my teaching and research. Excellent blending of history, theory, literary analyses, and race-gender-class-space analyses. This is a model for what a true integrative, mixed-method approach can yield. I can see a seed for his next project in the epilogue—a deep dive into urban agriculture, and the similar spatial-carceral-racial-gender dimensions therein. Great read!

Great socio-spatial historic view of Chicago. The depths of analysis and connected-ness in literature is profound. Every student in CPS and charter schools should read this book. Required reading for everyone especially Chicagoans, architects, and Activist Scholars.
