I’ve been very happy with this Coway Airmega air purifier. It’s surprisingly quiet, even when running throughout the day, and it has made the air in our home feel noticeably fresher and cleaner. I’ll touch on the purification, but the reason I have this, and why it was suggested to me - is for a sleeping aid! That is ALL I use it for and it is EXCELLENT for such. I was miserable and tried earplugs and white noise through my speaker. My brain knew that was artificial. This thing did the trick! My savior! It has 3 speed levels. Which, I’m guessing the lowest levels is what they’re saying is more quiet than an air conditioner. Level 3 is absolutely NOT more quiet than an AC. This isn’t about it justing be loud enough to drown out noise. I’m pretty sure it’s about FREQUENCY. Imagine the sound of an air conditioner, but a little louder and giving you a slight breeze to make your room just a SMIDGE cooler. If there are cars, birds, noisy AC condenser units outside, or people talking outside, turn this thing immediately makes them DISAPPEAR like magic. I think it’s got to do with the airwave frequencies. It brings your mental attention to your room because the purifier sound is in your room. So it keeps you in the present and kind of acts as a sensory deprivation when it comes to audio. It also makes light rain sounds disappear AND thunder!!! While not being disturbing. It’s soothing to me. I had this thing for 4 years until the fan gave out. Using it almost every night. Level 2 will only drown out the most subtle nuances like light wind and things in the distance. Sometimes I use it if it’s a quiet night. But level 3 is what I usually use to really help me knock out. If it’s off or level 2 and I wake up to some noise outside or wind chimes, I just get up and punch the 3 and boom it’s all gone and I’m back to bed. 😴 As for purifying the air, it’s always showing a blue light to indicate clean air. But it’s still good to use because the sensor doesn’t detect EVERYthing. For me the air purification is just a bonus. I probably wait too long to change the filters but they’re easy to do! And dust doesn’t go flying everywhere when I change it. That I can see.. But remember all you gotta do is turn it back on when the filter is changed in order for it to clean that invisible dusty air back up. I assume. Very RARELY does the light change to indicate air impurity. Maybe sometimes purple if it’s SUPER windy or there was a fire somewhere outside that you can smell. One time I was applying a diatomaceous earth powder to my room for bugs, and the light went REDD and I left it runnning for a whole day and I think it reallly helped. Probably wasn’t good at all for the machine but it kept going! I have never tried out the ion setting because the description I have read scares me. Ion wanna try it.. A few days ago, after 4 years, the fan just stopped going. And it made some noise. For the week leading up to it, sometimes the fan would slow down for 5 seconds and then go back. It sounded more like a power issue with maybe my apartment. But then when the fan stopped, I think that was my answer. Not sure how long it’s shooosed to last. I’m sure it varies. But I would say it’s worth it for 4 years. I don’t need any pictures. What you see in the other pictures is accurate. It’s the height of the length of a coat hanger! It’s less than a coat hanger wide by a good bit, and it’s half the length of a coat hanger deep when you measure behind it. Maybe that’ll give you an idea of the size. Not bad. It’s at the foot of my bed. Cleaning it was super simple. I’m ordering another one and it’s giving me same-day shipping. Idk. It’s cool.

I got this air purifier for a relative that has COPD. They already had an Alen T100 that they were pleased with. But, as is common in multiple industries where a core product requires a consumable, it's often not the condition of the core product but the availability of the required consumable that dictates when a product has to be replaced. While I've been able to find enough replacement air filters for that one air purifier, when the need arose for a 2nd air purifier for a second section of the house, instead of just getting a newer Alen, I opted to start the research process all over again and, this time, the clear winner was Coway And, as well as the Alen has done over the years, it didn't take long to see how much better the Coway model was by comparison. A first major difference is in the design and aesthetics. With several color variants and another model with a more classic look, it doesn't visually stand out as much as a typical tower air purifier does. It's more stylish and "elegant". Second, there are actual very practical functional reasons for those aesthetics. Instead of blowing air on people horizontally, it blows the air straight up so that nobody feels the air blowing. It's also significantly quieter so even set on medium speed it's quieter than the Alen at low speed. That's impressive given that this model is designed to handle a space 3X as much as the Alen was. But, it's due to the design of having the air come in from the sides and then exit out the top. It just provides a much more natural method of air circulation. And, also means it can be tucked along a wall and out of the way ... with the cord blocked from view if located directly at the power outlet. Another great feature that the Coway has that I haven't seen before is that you have 4 stage filtration .... with the initial pre-screen stage being a built-in filter that can be washed ... followed by the 1st charcoal filter to catch large objects like hair .... followed by a 2nd filter that have 4 replacement options and therefore can be customized based on what types of odors or particles a person needs filtered out ... and finally the HEPA filter that catches the smallest particles that make it past the other three. Not only is this like a coin-sorter process of filtering out different things at different people ... but this is why, unlike a lot of air purifiers, the main filters can last 1 year instead of just 6 months. The built-in filter is recommended to be cleaned once a month. The charcoal filter 6 months. The "environmental/smell" filter being replaced once a year. And, the HEPA filter being able to last even longer depending on environment. Where it actually gets better at filtering over time ... but then the tradeoff is air flow reduction. That's why the official recommendation is still once a year. And, best of all, the NYT wirecutter review I'd found says Coway has made continual improvements over the years to this product, which really shows. Many manufacturer's just seem intent on constantly reinventing the wheel and it seems Coway was instead focusing on perfecting what it already had. Very pleased with the results and the good deal we'd gotten on it. While we hope the Alen continues to do well for several more years, at least it's nice knowing that we already know what to replace it with whenever it become necessary.

I don't want to be one of those giddy-with-first-impressions folks in not testing a product thoroughly for months before posting a review... but this thing makes me wanna do just that. It arrived simple & understated.. and by that I mean, unpacking was easy and it did not take brute force or cleaning stray pieces of styrofoam for 30 minutes after unboxing. It slid out, I removed two pieces of protective styro caps, and unwrapped the shrink wrap. I took off the plastic wrap from the filters (which were already in place so I didn't have to read a book of instructions first to figure out where to put them). Then I simply plugged this sucker in, and it worked on auto right out of the box. It was like unboxing an Apple product -- so intuitive, so seamless, so simple. Kudos to manufacturers. And of course, as first impressions go... it looks good. So I love it even more because it's pretty. Aesthetics aside, it is also built well... and perfectly sized. I attached photos to show that it's not too tall, nor is it too deep. It is a bit shorter than my nightstand, which is of an average height. It's a bit on the wide-side, but you can position it however you see fit. It does need about a foot on the right side to allow for proper air flow, and probably a good idea to keep the front end free & clear since the "circle" is from where it pulls in air... but I found this guy could be positioned in many places throughout my home without being an eyesore. I have it in my bedroom currently, but I plan to buy one for my family room as well, and maybe the basement also. It really does work. My bedroom is often very stuffy, especially in the winter when we have the heat temperature set to 73 degrees -- I like it warm & toasty, but my nasal passages feel otherwise. I do suffer from pollen allergies, as well as mild allergies to dust mites, grass, ragweed, mold spores, and pet dander (although I still have 2 shed-heavy fur-babies.) But my allergies are never bad enough to warrant any real attention, I just suffer through it since they're pretty mild. HOWEVER, I keep saying mild when in all reality, I didn't know the difference between no allergy and mild allergy until sleeping one night with this purifier running. Man what a difference. My nose was not all dry and cracked up feeling on the inside. It also was not runny or scratchy, which is how it often feels after running my humidifier all night (which I run to keep my nose from feeling so dry!) This machine does not mask the issue, or dampen it, or freeze/cold draft it away.... it CLEANS THE AIR. I know, I know... it's hard to imagine, but boy is it easy to feel. I slept for the last 2 nights like a newborn baby. Granted, I've only had it for 2 days but the difference from walking into my bedroom vs the other rooms of my home, cannot be ignored. My home isn't particularly old, or stuffy, or dirty, or dusty. Yes we have pets, but I am a Dyson maniac and we have a brand new HEPA HVAC filtration system; we have our ducts cleaned regularly; and, there are no smokers or other reasons for contaminated air (at least that I can find.) However, when plugging this thing in... it ran a blue and then purple light for a bit on auto, but then changed to RED (which freaked me out a bit as it sounds rather aggressive). And it ran that way for about 10 minutes. I left it to its job, and when I returned a little while later, it was back to a blue light and I could barely hear it running anymore... but the air did in fact feel lighter, crisper, and easier to breathe. It felt much like the very first time I walked onto my hotel balcony in Vancouver, Canada and took in a giant breath. It just felt... clean. Air quality is a legitimate thing, and having poor air to breathe makes life a less tolerable for people with allergies or lung issues. Again, not something I suffer from necessarily, but I appreciate the cleaner air this provides nonetheless. So I cannot imagine how much better breathing could be for someone that does have serious allergies, asthma, or other breathing troubles. I would say this gem is a no brainer, if you do. But even if you don't, you'll still notice the difference after plugging this guy in and letting it run for about the first hour. I do think the auto feature could become a bit of a power monger as I have never witnessed it turn off after being on auto as if to say "okay, I'm done. All clean." So I do set the timer feature when I'm not going to be upstairs and I shut it off when I'm leaving the house for awhile. Another thing to note is that there are studies about potential harmful effects to lungs when using the UV and ion cleaning features. It is recommended that you only use these settings when not in the house as breathing in UV treated air is said to be harmful as a result of O3 air, similar to breathing in air high in ozone levels. So I only set my purifier with these features when not in the room. I can't yet speak to durability or filter tolerance, but they are priced reasonably enough that changing once or twice a year would be totally acceptable. I will update if I find that longevity or level of purifying impact worsens, or if cleaning/upkeep isn't as great with this machine moving forward, but for now... I am a Coway air purifier believer. ** UPDATE - after 7 months of constant use, I will say that my initial reactions were still pretty accurate in that this purifier does do what it claims to do. I notice that it is reactive to smells, smoke and other air-purity issues when they are occurring, even when I am simply cooking sausage or something extra smokey or fragrant in the kitchen -- while I have this unit upstairs in my bedroom, which is a considerable distance from the kitchen (bedroom in front of the house on 2nd floor, kitchen in the back of the house on the 1st floor.) So I know that it indeed works because I can hear it begin to run rapidly when I accidentally burn something or even when making bacon or something that has a smell or odor. I also know that it is filtering dust and pet hair, because both of my Coway purifiers (I have one upstairs and the tower unit downstairs) needed HEPA filter replacements at 6 months. The manufacturers suggestion is 6 months for the carbon odor filter, and 1 year for the thick, HEPA filter.. but my HEPA filter was so dirty at 6 months that the "change filter" light came on for the tower unit, so I figured I would change this 1512HH unit at the same time, and it definitely needed it. The filters were both clogged with so much dirt, dust and pet hair.. I couldn't believe this stuff was floating around my house for it to grab. In fact, even strands of my hair were in the filter! And my hair is pretty long, well below shoulder-length. I figure it must have sucked it in from the floor. Pretty cool purifier... I still give it 5 stars and 2 thumbs up after 7 months of use.

I’ve had this air purifier for a little over a month now and have really liked it. It seems to do a really good job at cleaning the air in the large room I have it placed in. It’s about 20 feet away from our kitchen and will almost instantly switch into turbo mode when we start cooking. You can also see the display numbers go up which is neat to see it doing its job! Set up was extremely easy. I have not had to put a replacement filter yet, but putting the current one in was very straightforward. It is also light enough where you can move it from room to room if there’s a reason. I will say I think the price is a little high as the actual body quality does not seem to match the price point the air purification quality does though. It’s placed in a pretty large open concept, Family room/Kitchen combo. The prefilter seems to be a pretty neat idea as it catches all the bigger dust particles and dog hair. I vacuum this off about once a week. Overall, I would say this is a pretty effective air purifier.

I think so highly of this that I have purchased multiple. It works great in our large bedrooms to manage dog hair and dander (we have a large German Shepherd, so it manages A LOT of hair). I also have one in my daughter's room where she keeps a herd of 3 guinea pigs. Before this was in her room, it always felt dusty and smelled like hay. Now the dust is much improved, and the hay smell is totally gone. We do use it with pet filters and keep it running on low all the time. At low speed, you almost can't hear it. At the higher speeds, it sounds just like white noise, so it is still just fine to run at high over night. The first layer filter is easy to clean, and all layers of the filter are easy to change. The first layer we clean about weekly, but it tells you when it needs to be cleaned (for us, this is where most of the dog hair catches). The disposable filters only need to be replaced every few months, and they are easy to change. This has made a huge difference for me in the air quality and breathability of the room air in our bedrooms.

I am very happy with this air purifier. Since I keep it in my bedroom, quiet oparation is a must. It didn't disappoint in this regard. It is so quiet I sometimes have to check to see if is on. Other purifiers are quiet when you first get them. But they almost always have a cheaper sleeve bearing fan motor that inevitably begins to rattle an buzz after you have had it for a while. This product claims to have a better motor so time will tell. Also, it really cleans up the room air compared to my last air filter. I hardly ever have to dust anymore. It has a lot of extra features, modes and displays. I just set the fan to speed 1 and let it run 24/7. You can't go wrong with this product.

I had researched air filters for two years this one was top recommended by Wirecutter for six years straight. So when they had a sale I checked and I lucked up and saved ordered next years filter w the sale. Very impressed w quiet but first night after running all afternoon I actually slept through the night ! I couldn’t believe it. Others said it in reviews but I research. It’s the truth. I cleaned it after five days just to see , easy to remove and vacuum allergy filter / def changes color w it senses odors we don’t ! Dim lights don’t interfere w sleep , compact size and color doesn’t look like rocket ship in the middle of your room ! It’s barely noticeable, did purchase extended warranty and use a power strip w anything electrical ! I’m Sold. This skeptic was wrong. The reviews from Washington were spot on. If you can catch it early w their sales it’s a great value either way , but it makes it better to save money ! Highly recommend from someone w genetic lung issues and dry eye. It’s helped both but esp my sleep ! I turn it up a little a night bc the extra sound helps your brain relax from other sounds in the home for more relaxing sleep. Skeptic sold. It’s been almost two weeks no complaints at all. Can be cleaned in under two minutes ! Next sale I’ll buy more filters! Have next years I purchased on sale @ time of purchase of unit , but this unit is here to stay. I Love it !!! This Skeptic is sold on Coway!

La entrega fue muy rápida, me llegó un día antes de lo previsto, primer punto positivo. El purificador esta hecho de muy buenos materiales segundo punto positivo. En cuanto al ruido en el nivel 1 el ruido no es perceptible y en el nivel 2 es casi imperceptible, en el nivel 3 si se escucha mucho pero son muy pocas ocasiones y por muy poco tiempo en las que se tiene que usar en nivel 3 por lo que también es un punto positivo. Otro punto positivo en mi opinión es su tamaño que es más compacto que otros de su misma capacidad. Yo vivo en una zona donde hay muchas construcciones de edificios en los alrededores lo cual ha hecho que en los últimos dos años haya mucho polvo en el ambiente, además la calidad de aire en la ciudad donde vivo ha bajado mucho también lo que ha provocado que tenga reacciones alérgicas que sobe todo en las noches provocando que se me congestionen las vías respiratorias y batalle para respirar. Las 3 noches que llevo usándolo hasta ahora el nivel de polvo en la habitación a bajado casi en un 90%, no he tenido reacciones alérgicas y en las noches no se me congestiona la nariz, lo tengo encendido las 24 horas del día en el nivel de velocidad 1. Todavía es pronto para ver si tendré buenos resultados a largo plazo pero hasta el día de hoy ha sido muy bueno. A los que están investigando la compra de un purificador de aire les recomiendo que analicen muy bien su situación particular. Este purificador me ha sido muy útil ya que elimina polvos, olores y la gran mayoría de contaminantes, también por lo que investigué elimina solo parte de los gases emitidos por los automóviles en zonas de tráfico pero cuidado, no los elimina del todo, si tu vives en una zona de mucho tráfico vehicular y necesitas eliminar los gases producidos por el tráfico necesitas otro tipo de purificador. En mi caso particular ha resultado excelente compra y si lo recomiendo, estoy por comprar el segundo para la recámara de mis hijos.

Compré este purificador de aire que al principio me gustó, realmente es muy silencioso, solo que después de usarlo solo 2 meses ya me dice que cambie el filtro. Por qué? Se supone que hay que cambiarlo después de 6 meses...y eso que solo lo usamos durante la noche...realmente decepcionante...

I got this as we have pets and I have asthma and I am allergic to dust, spores, scents e.g. It came very carefully wrapped from the boxing of the product to the individual filters all in protective packaging. I turned it on and straight away it detected cooking smells and on Auto it started up and turned itself off when air went from red to blue. For those saying it doesnt work … did you take all the wrapping off the filters? Its a modern design and fits nicely against a wall. The air felt so much fresher this morning ( we live near to the sea so home has a sort of beach hut smell generally and close by trees blow pollen in) It clearly removes spores as I didnt have my usual sneezing fit this morning having left it on auto over night.

Amazing purifier, true hepa, very quiet and has many modes. Great size for a condo or smaller rooms, nice design! I am extremely happy with my purchase and I am glad I didn’t buy anything more expensive than this. I have been previously researching which purifier to buy as there are so many out there to choose from, so I have literally watched about a dozen reviews on YouTube, did my research and compared to other similar items from other brand names. It helps a lot that there are many YouTube reviewers who compare the actual data of performance and noise of the purifiers in comparison to brand names such as Dyson. They also run the purifiers and measure the actual noise under the same conditions. I am a data freak, so after looking at many reviews, performance comparisons, cost of filter replacement; durability, I have decided to purchase Coway. I mainly choose it for the price, appearance, size and the performance. In all honesty; this performs better than some Dyson ones that people use and it is more affordable to purchase. I also found out that the replacement filters are easier to buy and are hasle free and cheaper compare to other brands. I haven’t had the need to replace the filters yet, but to set it up you have to place them and they are extremely easy to put on. I will do an update review after 6 months. I usually keep it on auto, at all times during the day as well. When I go to the office I turn it off, but when I get home I always have it on. It has significantly improved the air quality and I can breathe and sleep better. I would sometimes wake up with a stuffy nose as I have some minor allergies and sinuses, but ever since using this purifier, I can with certainty confirm that it makes such a huge difference. It is so lightweight I even bring it to the kitchen when I cook, and within minutes it clears the air. It’s absolutely worth the price and much cheaper than other purifiers out there. Don’t bother buying purifiers from Best Buy for more $. It automatically detects how much the air is dirty, red when it is extremely polluted, to purple and blue when it is clean. You can also use ECO mode or ion, but I just have it running on number 2 at all times. Noise wise, this is the least noisy purifier I have ever owned. You can literally have it on all day on number 2 mode which is medium and not even notice it is running. I have been running it non stop because I sometimes forget it’s even there haha. There is no noise at all at night, no annoying motor noise or loud whining like on other purifiers. As I said, I don’t even notice I have it. Mode 3 is the highest setting which is quite loud, but I never have the need to use 3. Just for your information, this is one of the purifiers that uses the least electricity too, so keep that in consideration when wanting to buy a purifier. I keep mine on at all times on 2nd mode all day for the past month and a half. I also apologize for such long review, but I figured that people would want to know how this purifier compares to others. I hope this is helpful! Also, I love the appearance of this purifier it looks like a speaker haha.

Opened the box a and followed all the instructions to remove packaging etc but it never worked. After switching on the power butter the speed buttons flash and then I’m not able to click on anything else. It doesn’t turn on at all. And very unhelpful customer service so have not been able to return the item!
